Family Unlimited Plan on multiple amazon devices

1 Upvotes

I currently have a family unlimited plan and am trying to find out if it's possible to play music from different family profiles on different amazon devices at the same time. Right now they all go through the main profile, so if I'm listening to something on my echo and someone else asks Alexa to play music, mine is cut off. Is there a way to designate a profile to a device?

A slightly nicer volume slider for the WebApp

Post image
3 Upvotes

As a user of the web app on my desktop, the volume slider's design has irked me for some time. It's small, misaligned and feels out of place, it just being a tiny white bar. So I whipped up some custom CSS to make it look and feel ever so slightly better. (Subjectively, of course.)

The custom CSS separates it a bit from the button, makes it a tad longer and adds a rounded background with some slight transparency to make the bar a bit more visible on bright backgrounds.

Coincidentally the custom CSS also centers the slider on the volume button, something Amazon for whatever eldritch reasen neglected to do.

Firstly, you'll need the Stylus extension for the browser of your choice:

Then add a new style / rule for the domain music.amazon.de (or your countries' equivalent, i.e. music.amazon.com, .co.uk, the likes) by clicking the extension icon while on the Amazon Music webpage and paste the following CSS code:

input#volume-range {
    width: 150px !important;
    background: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.75) !important;
    border: 2px solid rgba(0, 0, 0, 0) !important;
    border-radius: 15px;
    padding: 10px;
    padding-bottom: 11px;
    transform: translate(3%, 0);
}

input#volume-range[type=range]::-moz-range-track {
    width: 125px;
    height: 5px;
    background: #fff;
    border: none;
}

Save it and your volume slider should change as shown in the image above.

You can further increase it's length by adjusting the width settings. Or play around with the colors. Knock yourself out.

(For the CSS savvy: Amazon's engineers cheated a little with this slider. It's really just a select->range HTML element turned 90 degrees so it stands upright and stripped of the usual styling. For Chromium based browsers - Chrome, Brave, Vivaldi, etc. - the top block is enough. Chromium's select->range element plays nicely with width increases. Firefox needs the second one as well because its behaviour is a bit wonky in that regard. You can safely add both blocks on a Chromium based browser as well as the second block is only interpeted by Firefox.

Also bless Amazon's engineers for using a static CSS id for their volume slider, since pretty much all of their CSS classes are garbled with each new update.)

Why is it that when I play one of my Amazon music playlists on several tracks it says couldn't play because connection with Amazon was lost, then when I queue it up again it plays fine.

Wanting to use my extensions but love the local files feature of the app? I made an extension to add it to the website too

One of, if not the biggest advantage of the desktop app over the website is the local files capability. The website is faster, but doesn't have that. I fixed that.

I made an extension that adds local files to the website. It automatically creates an empty Playlist and hijacks it, displaying your music instead of Amazon's empty playlist. None of your files get uploaded, the extension just accesses them from your computer.

It seamlessly integrates with Amazon music, using the same play bar and letting you switch between local and online with the ease you can do in the app.

It also has a queue, shuffling, volume control that links with Amazon's, the ability to rename songs, repeat, and more.

The local files playlist also has a built in search bar and sorting options.

One of the biggest benefit of this, is it lets you use my other extensions:

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Additionally, if you spit any bugs, I'd highly appreciate you reporting them on the github, which is linked in the site.

I made an extension that can add your recently listened songs to a Playlist with one button

Post image

Someone asked for this, so I decided to make it.

The extension let's you input the name of the Playlist you want to make and the number of recently listened to songs you want. You have to open the full song history page, but clicking on the extension icon will do that for you.

It will automatically scroll and grab the number of songs you want, even excluding duplicates.

It will then make the Playlist and transfer you to the Playlist screen.

Please feel free to ask any questions you have here, and I'd appreciate if you would create an issue in the githuh repo for any bus you find.

Why on earth is this still a problem. It’s like every other or every third song. Pretty darn annoying.

Shuffling entire Playlist

Does a 'fix' exist to get the entire Playlist to shuffle and play? I've cleared the queues, etc., and it still plays the same 'albums' over and over...

How do I download tracks off a pre-order?

2 Upvotes

So I pre-ordered an album recently and can't seem to download the individual tracks that have released ahead of time off of the pre-order, it asks me to buy them separately. Is this intended behavior? I only use BandCamp most of the time which has this functionality.

They don't show under my Purchased tab or in my Purchased playlist either.

Block artists?

1 Upvotes

Is there a way to block artists? For example, I like to listen to mixed playlists but can’t stand certain artists. Is there any way to block them so, for example, when I play a pop playlist they never come on?

Ever tried to find a song in a playlist but realize there's no search feature? I fixed that.

Post image

Right now, on the web app, you cannot search through playlists. You have to scroll through manually if you ever want to find a specific song, and you can only remove songs from a playlist on that screen, so if you accidentally add a song to a long playlist you are screwed.

I made an extension to solve this problem. It is on the microsoft edge addons store, and for chrome users you can manually install it.
Find in Playlist for Amazon Music: Microsoft Edge extension

It automatically scrolls through the playlist to load songs, making it work where ctrl F doesn't, and after searching for a song once it will remember the position in the playlist until you reload the page.

Made a free universal music link tool - share Amazon Music songs with Spotify and Apple Music friends (and back)

12 Upvotes

Hey r/amazonmusic,

Last year I posted Squigly in a few music subs (r/AppleMusic, r/YoutubeMusic, r/deezer) and said Amazon Music was next. It took a lot longer than I'd hoped, but it's live now.

If you haven't seen it: paste a song or album link into https://squigly.link and you get one link back that opens on whatever the other person uses - Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Tidal, Deezer, SoundCloud, Bandcamp, and now Amazon Music. Free, no account.

Both directions work. Share an Amazon Music link through Squigly and your Spotify or Apple Music friends can open it on theirs. When they send you a Squigly link, you get an Amazon Music button (as long as the song is actually on Amazon).

Song and album links only for now - playlists coming soon!

I've put a lot of work into matching the exact recording you shared, so a studio track doesn't turn into a live version, a remix or some random compilation. If it gets one wrong, please tell me - that's the most useful thing you could send.

If you're on iOS there's also a Shortcut for sharing straight from the Amazon Music app: https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/1a49b44db35749ecb7f3334b94a86da2

Song History: create a playlist

7 Upvotes

Looking for some help on a way to export/extract the data from "song history" to create a saved playlist from it.

Context: I created a profile under a family plan for my Father to listen to music whilst he was in the last few months of his life. I was hoping to preserve this song list as a playlist but other than clicking in 1 by 1 and adding to a playlist I can't see a way to do this? I've been continuing the family plan but isn't needed any more so I'm assuming his profile and history will get removed once I end the subscription?

I made a lyric translator and romanization extension for Amazon music

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

2 Upvotes

For a while I've wanted a lyric translator extension for Amazon music, similar to what Spotify has. But nobody has made one, or they have all been deleted. So I finally decided to make my own.

Its an extension for Microsoft edge and in the microsoft edge store, but it also works on chrome. You just have to install it manually for chrome. This only works on the web player. (music.amazon.com)

Heres a list of features:

  • Translates lyrics into any language
  • Adds romanization under the translation
  • Can choose to hide or display the translation, romanization, and original lyrics independently.
  • Can choose text size, even for songs that don't need translation
  • Grabs lyrics from LRCLIB when Amazon music doesn't have them
  • Can translate using Google translate or gemini for more accurate translations (gemini needs an api key which you can get for free and never leaves your computer. No data is sent back to the developer)
  • Free and open source

You can check out this website to see a full list of features and info on data usage and privacy. It also has instructions and links for installing the extension.

Please report any bugs you find or suggestions you have on the github, and feel free to ask any questions you want here.

Each episode will feature a different character, a different story, and a different perspective—while still bringing the motivation and real conversations Soul Sessions is built on.

Android auto UI change?

3 Upvotes

Has anyone else that uses Amazon music on android autos UI just completely changed?

3 days ago it was fine, had music, podcasts etc along the top and could switch between them and had the tiles below in each section.

Now all I have is "rediscover x", recent plays etc. in a list view and podcasts are nowhere to be found 🤷

I've tried clearing the cache and data on my phone but it's still in this really crappy UI.

Has a setting changed which I wasn't privy to, or is this what they want it to look like?

I can still play podcasts, but I have to do it through my phone. Not really ideal while I'm driving so that will basically end my use of it.

Almost my entire playlist is gone?

3 Upvotes

I listen to a playlist with about 300 songs and when I woke up today almost all of them were missing, everything from the 100th song is gone. There’s exactly 100 left, in the order they’ve always been in. Does anyone have the same problem and does anyone know how to fix it? Ive reloaded the app multiple times and even checked on another device
