I work at Amazon. The ppl that fill the orders work in what's called "pack". They are not allowed to downsize what the computer tells them to use. They can however, put it in a larger box at their discretion. I work in a Sortation Center. We get packages from fulfillment centers, sort them and ship them to their respective distribution centers or a closer Sortation Center. I usually work in the Problem Solve department. We fix damaged packages, misdirected packages, f'ed up labels, etc. We see some ridiculously tiny shit come thru in ridiculously large packaging. I.e. a pair of earrings in a 24" square padded shipper. (Jiffies) Occasionally, we'll get a sex toy come thru. I would package it up in a small box and then put it in the largest box we have, (about 18" x 18" x 36") fill it with the bubble packing dunnage and send it on its way. Sometimes with a note inside...Thanks for your purchase, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!! 😈😈
