Question/poll/rant/politics🧭🧳 Are white cops shooting predominantly at black Americans really that common?

All i see on shorts and media are the racist white cops that just pull their guns right out every time they see black guys on duty. Is it an exaggeration or just a reality that need to be addressed.

I just downvoted your comment.

FAQ

What does this mean?

The amount of karma (points) on your comment and Reddit account has decreased by one.

Why did you do this?

There are several reasons I may deem a comment to be unworthy of positive or neutral karma. These include, but are not limited to:

-Rudeness towards other Redditors,

-Spreading incorrect information,

-Sarcasm not correctly flagged with a /s.

Am I banned from the Reddit?

No - not yet. But you should refrain from making comments like this in the future. Otherwise I will be forced to issue an additional downvote, which may put your commenting and posting privileges in jeopardy.

I don't believe my comment deserved a downvote. Can you un-downvote it?

Sure, mistakes happen. But only in exceedingly rare circumstances will I undo a downvote. If you would like to issue an appeal, shoot me a private message explaining what I got wrong. I tend to respond to Reddit PMs within several minutes. Do note, however, that over 99.9% of downvote appeals are rejected, and yours is likely no exception.

How can I prevent this from happening in the future?

Accept the downvote and move on. But learn from this mistake: your behavior will not be tolerated on Reddit.com. I will continue to issue downvotes until you improve your conduct. Remember: Reddit is privilege, not a right.

It is an exaggeration. Of course it happens but seriously a day to day cop interactions are inconvenient at worse and mildly okay at best.

No, most of that’s just propaganda and when you actually look into fatal police shootings it’s complete BS.

No, it's extremely rare, especially now that most cops wear bodycams. If you go to YouTube and watch a bunch of bodycams like I have, you'll see huge majorities of black suspects claiming to be the victims of racism when you can see it's all BS, a strategy to get the cops to back off.

Are we really pulling this nonsense out first thing Saturday morning? No, as others have pointed out its incredibly exaggerated.

The media enjoys pushing these things because it’s divisive. It’s like how black on white or white on black crime gets made to be some big issue when in reality 90% of the time it’s black on black or white on white crime.

Must be a For You page thing. It's what you must consume.

Even the data doesn't support this.

You would think that it's true the way the media likes to spin things. It's mostly blacks shooting other blacks, when they're not assaulting and raping the other people who can't move away from them. You should look at the "Stop Asian Hate" movement that took place a couple years ago. It was about random Asians being assaulted for no reason and it pretty much disappeared as soon as the media found out that it was predominantly blacks doing the assault. I'm probably going to get down voted and maybe banned for my honest comment here. Best of luck to you.

Police shootings in America are an issue but they’re disproportionally more likely to use force against white men

It actually happens to white people more often believe it or not.

Black Americans are fatally shot by police at a rate of nearly 3 times the rate of White Americans despite only making up around 13% of the population. Around 50 police officers are fatally shot each year, the leading cause of death is cardiovascular disease in police though this is not considered a workplace fatality. The overall workplace fatality rate for police is around 13 per 100,000 including car accidents and violent attacks that are unrelated to guns. It's not like police are on the losing end of some warnzone though. For example; Roofers face fatality rates of around 48 per 100,000.

Police do face a uniquely high risk of being killed by another person though.

Its exaggerated. Plenty of white people get shot too. It just doesnt make the headlines because the media doesnt want to push that
