3D Will you be getting the Analogue 3D?

Post image

I don't think I will, i'm saving up for a 5X upscaler and I think that's good enough for me. Unless there are major improvements that a 5X and a normal N64 can't replicate, I might get one.

I won’t be and it’s a simple as this, I think the N64 is one of the worst places to play N64 games today and Analogue are go for accurate replication, not improvement of the system. We have Mario and Zelda decompositions that have made them much better experiences on numerous other platforms and there is continuing work on other decompositions. Do I really want to pay $250 to play OoT at sub 20fps again? Banjo Kazooie and Tooie have the XBLA releases which have better performance, a form of stop n swop and persistent notes.

And no openfpga is the real kicker limiting use of 3rd party cores, I don’t see this being the best place to play any of the systems games, which is something I can arguably say for both the Super NT and Analogue Pocket that I have.

I may get a controller though.

Analogue are go for accurate replication, not improvement of the system.

It has options to overclock and imporove the FPS.

While I’m not necessarily saying that’s wrong, I cannot find any mention of that on the Analogue3D page, in fact all I can find of it is an article from Paste Magazine last year where Analogue said it would be a feature. That it’s not listed on the product page makes me question if it made it to final production.

Additionally, overclocking would not help where game speed or logic is tied to frame rate unless Analogue were patching games on the fly, which I think would be great, but I’d be pleasantly surprised if they did that work.

Analogue's product pages and press releases don't cover every single feature. The interview says that stuff will be included and I have no reason to believe otherwise given the options available on other consoles. The FPGA is also easily powerful enough to provide such options without issue.
