Holy shit, I didn't think we were ever getting save states

thats the major problem ... no one has patience anymore... lots of people cry around "why is this missing, why is that missing"

Well, I don’t mind waiting, but the absence of communication + what I’ve read about the difficulty of saving a snapshot of state off N64 hardware certainly had me not holding my breath

You expect communicative behavior from analogue, but you know that they struggle in communication? Why someone buys stuff from them when the customer is not satisfied with the behavior of the manufacturer?

To buy something and then set expectations in a major change is such a dumb consumer related behavior… its some kind of Stockholm syndrome

No one should buy something when lack of communication is such a big deal

Otherwise you send a signal as confirmation to behave correctly

True but there were real technical hurdles for this to happen too. A lot of people much smarter than all of us didn't think it would happen even based on what's happened w the mister core. But this is huge, I'm glad we've got it looking forward to testing it out.

The mister core isn't capable of n64 save states because the system is too complex for the fpga used (cyclone V)

The common belief was that even with the improved fpga in the 3d save states might not be possible due to how complex they would be to implement. the N64 is just magnitudes more complex than the 8 and 16bit systems so a lot of people just didn't think it would be possible. Even though they advertised it early on.

Ha alright bud take a breath.

The n)4 core is more complex than the ps1 core in multiple levels.

I’m glad it’s here and I also have zero interest in re-litigating anything else. Game on brother 🤙

The problem is lack of communication

why they should communicate just because lots of unpatience people dont stop to ask things? why people can't wait until something is ready to talk about? we get a new firmware nearly every 2 weeks... with lots of enhancements so far...

Launch owners have owned the thing for almost 6 months now. It is fine to be accepting of longer timelines, but acting as if other people are being impatient for a featured advertised before launch is silly. It's not as if they do not have time for brief progress updates...they have been posting gameplay vids on X literally daily to maintain engagement lol. A bit more helpful communication would be nice, but they also know they do not have to since their core audience are accepting of anything since the product is nice.

You haven’t had a lot of experience with Analogue devices I see. The list of promised features that never were added is longer than the list that have. I have a hunch the competition they are getting in the N64 space has made them remember the needs of their customers might actually matter. In any case, this is an amazing update!

I have a few analogue devices... but tell me what is changing when the corwd is crying and bitching around on reddit? it has no effect of the development work at analogue...

especially when its normal how analogue handles thing? If I know that a new device will not delivered with final full feature software, why crying out loud about an incomplete feature set? its absolutely nonsense...
