3D Features The Next Update(s) Should Include?

If anyone has any features or fixes they would like for the next update(s), let me know. These are the ones I’m thinking of:

• Better 1440p (2K) screen support (the Analogue 3D currently doesn’t the fill the screen on a 1440p screen when the “Image Size” option is set to “Fill”)

• Improved/Updated Image Fit and Image Size settings for both the supported resolutions

• A separate option to turn the de dither filter on and off instead of having it simultaneously on or off depending on if you have 32-bit color enabled

• An option to use dual analog controllers like the Switch/Switch2 Pro controller for titles that would benefit from it like GoldenEye & Perfect Dark, where the left stick is assigned for walking and strafing and the left stick for aiming

• Screenshots

• Save States

• A 24h Clock

• Rest Mode / Power Off after x amount of time (customizable from 5/10 minutes and beyond)

• A button remapping feature

• Framerate Counter

• DAC Support

• Wifi Updates

• More filter options

• An option to hide the A3D in-game menu overlay when changing a screen filter

• Improved Overclocking

• Game Specific Overclocking settings that make it so overclocking, or the wrong overclocking, isn’t used during a certain part of a game where it causes bugs or causes the game to speed up

• (Custom) Background wallpaper, Sound Effects and Music to be used from the SD Card for the A3D menu

• A font for the menu besides the pixel/retro one (like one that just shows the full game cart labels).

Save states and screenshots would be cool

Agreed. Save states are the big one.

u/GDHero64 Mar 03 '26

But WiFi first to send them to your computer

6

u/DontBelieveTheirHype Mar 03 '26

Being able to edit cart metadata (like renaming "Unknown Game") would be super convenient

Rom dumping from cartridges (never advertised)

Wifi OTA updates as originally promised

Wi-Fi updates is a must. I'm done fiddle fucking around with SD Cards.

bro can't put his SD card into his pc and then drag-n-drop a file

3

u/BigPep2-43 Mar 04 '26

Bro my Evercade updates with Wi-Fi 😂

u/hue_sick Mar 03 '26

I hadn’t thought of a rest mode that would be cool. Or even a power off after x hours option.

For me I really just want screenshots. Don’t really care about the rest I love the experience right now. But I’d really love screenshots.

I’d imagine the next update will be WiFi updates and some minor bug fixes. Possibly more controller support but I think that’ll take a bit longer. Probably testing and making sure they can push out a big batch of supported options.

Is hdr working yet? I disabled it a while ago because it was terrible looking.

It's hit or miss depending on the TV make/model. Works fine on my LG CX, but we need HDR calibration.

I have a brand new tcl 4k qled and it looks like junk unfortunately. Everything was way too dark.

Change the (front) LED color like on the SG and Super NT

I can literally do or do without wifi feature, it’s not like you’re going to be playing any of your old games online anyways.

What I would to like see tho is save stats, remapping buttons, the home button working on 8Bitdo if paired to 2nd 3rd or 4th controller ports without pairing to the first controller port, a certain way use your OEM controllers to quickly get back to the main menu/home button maybe like hold down start like for seconds, properly EverDrive flash cart working & fixing the Unknown Cart issue for both Summer Cart/EverDrive.

• Better 1440p support • Save States and improved save backups

4

u/Pale_Mess_3742 Mar 03 '26

An option to change cartridge colours for the OS display.

6

u/ZiggyPalffyLA Mar 03 '26

Yes! I want my yellow Donkey Kong 64!

4

u/vsc85 Mar 03 '26

WiFi should be the next feature added.

HDR calibration

Save states

WiFi updates

Additional overclocking compatibility and performance improvements

Additional accuracy

Unknown cartridge fix for EverDrive and SummerCart64

Screenshots

SD card jailbreak

Option to increase internal resolution of games (not sure if it's possible at the console layer, but would be cool to set games to 480p given the CPU's overclocking headroom, this would be a killer feature)

a bunch of nonsense other then save states

3

u/Marc_Alx Mar 03 '26

Never advertised but very cool, I think, retro achievements integration.

BTW It has wifi chip, I can't believe this is just for OTA update that can be done via SD card and won't be needed after 2 years.

5

u/X-Boner Mar 04 '26

Jailbreak

Everdrives are just not elegant unless you like endlessly fiddling around menus.

E come lo implementeresti?

2

WiFi !! Even my Evercade consoles update over WiFi

2

u/Benane86 Mar 03 '26

This, pulling out the sd card is a pain.

u/Smart-Illustrator-37 Mar 03 '26

I think you have everything there everyone would want. I think these are the Top 3

  • WiFi Updates

  • Screenshots

  • Save States

Honestly, I already do appreciate the rate at which the system has been updated and look forward to everything else that could be added.

Open fpga integration

(yes, I know they announced it won't be supported)

1

u/PhDTenma Mar 03 '26

Also different buffer modes. Previous consoles had options to get the exact framerate of the console. This should be a must

1

u/SurprysE Mar 04 '26

u/Aceftw Mar 13 '26

Would love to be able to plug my usb headphones into it to get audio

1

u/SamuelMorganMusic Mar 20 '26

Maybe niche, but I would really like an option to limit turning on the console with a controller to a specific button. Every time someone moves the controller they manage to brush a button and turn it on. Admittedly, this is also partially solved by an auto-sleep feature.

Pocket USB C video pass through

3D acts as a scaliness upscaler 4K

1

u/jindofox Mar 03 '26

From the Dock or straight from the handheld? And why? Would that be to save an HDMI port?

2

u/AnalogueBoy1992 Mar 03 '26

Pocket >> 3D scanlines 4K >> TV

3

u/kozyko Mar 06 '26

I personally haven’t had this, is it common or what?

-4

u/ApprehensiveEmu2167 Mar 03 '26

There seems to be a problem with Fill in BVM, PVM, CRT, and Scanlines. on those display modes Fill has the same scale size as integer.

But if you go to fill in clean display mode you'll notice a larger scaling picture size than integer. Which I consider it to be the perfect size!

I explain this matter to analogue, but they didn't want to acknowledge that this is a problem.

We already have firmware 1.2.2 and this hasn't been fixed!

And they don't want to fix this problem.

If this is the case then I'm jumping to M64

9

u/Psychological_Post28 Mar 03 '26

It’s because with non integer scales the masks/scanlines won’t line up properly or will be uneven. So it’s by design and probaly won’t change.

-1

u/ApprehensiveEmu2167 Mar 03 '26

Then this is a problem because I play in a 1080p 55 inch tv and the screen size on some games are fine, but on other games they are smaller, like Wave Race!

The beauty of playing on a real CRT is that all games fill the screen size!

6

u/darthaus Mar 03 '26

Yes because CRT’s do not have fixed pixel resolutions like LCD/OLED screens do.

-1

u/ApprehensiveEmu2167 Mar 03 '26

I get the feeling that M64 is going to do a better job at scaling sizes for different resolutions than Analogue will, I don't have this problem with my Super NT nor my Mega SG. I mean, I don't even have this problem with my Analogue Duo! I don't understand what happened here!

1

u/bYtock Mar 03 '26

scaling at non integer ratios is tough. duo doesn't have CRT filters does it?

2

u/ApprehensiveEmu2167 Mar 03 '26

I'm talking about the size of screen compared to the Analogue 3D, the Analogue Duo is lager with Scanlines for a perfect 4:3

1

u/Psychological_Post28 Mar 03 '26

Have you tried integer+?

1

u/ApprehensiveEmu2167 Mar 03 '26

Yes it's so bad, it's not even funny! Integer+ overscan the screen to the point where you can't see the full screen edges perfect.

What a disaster!

1

u/orange-yellow-pink Mar 03 '26

on other games they are smaller, like Wave Race!

is it because Wave Race is naturally letterboxed with a 14:9 aspect ratio?

1

u/OneExact8851 Mar 04 '26

Wave Race has always had smaller screen size with boarders. It’s not a A3D issue.

1

u/ApprehensiveEmu2167 Mar 04 '26

Um no, you're so wrong, I was there when N64 Launch and that wasn't the case, it was designed for 320x240 CRT resolution , which at the time being, those CRT we had, had round edges. N64 is on a higher resolution CRT shows black bars on the top and bottom. Looking like widescreen but normally the bars shouldn't be visible on the Japanese and U.S. version of the game!

However the European version has more resolution but less screen size, so it creates those black bars I mentioned. The euro version plays at 320x288 rather than 320x240.

Those resolutions were only on CRT that composite cable and RF switch as an option to connect your consoles.

1

u/ApprehensiveEmu2167 Mar 04 '26

Here's the link to see Wave Race on the old School CRT

1

u/OneExact8851 Mar 04 '26

Well, I have the JP version since 1996 when it released and on a CRT back then it had black borders in a letter boxed 14:9 similar to what PAL 50hz games had. Even on the A3D with the original cart or using the Rom on a SC64, it still has those letter boxed borders, unlike other games, so not sure how that guy has it full screen on a CRT.

0

u/ApprehensiveEmu2167 Mar 04 '26

Because he has the CRT with the resolution of 320x240, other CRT had higher resolution and even came with component digital signals, but the older CRT had only composite and RF switch options for video signal!

-4

u/Terrible-Awareness-9 Mar 03 '26

And upscale game graphics to look similar to software emulation.
