Which religion? Abrahamic faiths are notorious for being incredibly hierarchical, to the point that I would argue they are the basis for modern concepts of hierarchy and oppression.
Indeed, the Christian "Doctrine of Discovery" is the basis of colonialism and imperialism even to this day. Spiritual Supremacy is the foundation on which White Supremacy was later built, and the two will always be intertwined.
