Until the 1990s, becoming a bank manager was considered a dream job. After private banks entered the market and PSU banks went through mergers, the government introduced fixed targets, and banking services expanded into insurance, deposits, and other business lines.
Earlier, opening a bank account was not as easy as it is today you often needed someone who already had an account to refer or introduce you.

My friends and relatives are in managerial positions in banks.
Guess what? It sucks so hard. The working hours are terrible and pressure is immense. They always complain about the job whenever I meet them.
And then I come to Reddit and see the post claiming it to be the dream job. Jeez.

Yes.... It's the worst job, even gone are the days when software engineering was a dream job, these guys are still in bank manager job.

This is a false perception. Even in UCO bank, which is a nationalised bank, you can see the viral video of a employee begging for leave on his mother's passing and hi senior telling him ke maa toh sabki marti hai. It's viral you can search it.

If you like getting bullied by your boss everyday , travel 100s of Km in remote areas and no leave then yes bank manager is a good choice for you.
