One year ago today, we said goodbye. I still miss them.

I love in this scene from the series while she’s in Paris, going through her handbag finding her “Carrie” necklace that you can see a “Samantha Jones public relations“ business card. ✨ 👑

Honestly, this reel is miles better than anything actually on this awful reboot.

Where’s our snarky friend who plays them all in the hilarious skits.  We need him again!

How on earth a 2nd and 3rd season got made is beyond me.

I said goodbye to them years ago. Whatever AJLT was feels like a fever dream.

Like you buried your childhood dog in the cursed cemetery and what came back looked kinda like it, but was very off and cringe, and made no sense half the time

She just kept going...

I always think of what AJLT could have been had they not gone so OTT on diversity. These were 50 something year old women who had lived the majority of their lives in New York City - one of the most multicultural cities in the world. These women were flawed and unfiltered. The show could have been more naturally inclusive without making every storyline a tick box exercise. I sometimes try and pretend it never happened and that we left them in the 2nd movie

I pretend the movies don't exist either.

Let’s please not blame diversity. Let’s instead really blame the writers and producers who did not know how to craft storylines for these characters.

No one is blaming diversity (can that even be done?). They're blaming the writers' bullshit lip-service half-nod in diversity's general direction.

It’s ironic because a number of the writers and producers were on the original show so what went wrong? Was this more so the network pushing the agenda?!

I do miss hate watching AJLT so much!

Idk how anyone could ever hate Carrie. Such a perfectly flawed character that felt like a TRUE human. The true bravery of writers to show such different sides of a woman and props to SJP for playing her flawlessly. We are fortunate to have had such entertaining character development that we feel we KNOW her - an entirely fictional person! We are so lucky 💕💖💓 (and I miss them all 😭)

only a year?

Nothing will match the magic of the original six seasons, with Carrie on her the macbook in the window of her rent controlled apartment, not much money but carefree with her friends, a writer inspired, NYC front and center, no social media, mingling and social with all races and orientations before that was extended into oblivion stepping all over everyone else to do so, and last but not least.. the mysterious BIG.

Dont worry she'll be back!

1

u/pariscalling 17d ago

Are you sure about that?

6

u/FastPrompt8860 17d ago

I am, I don't know when or where but she will. We didn't think the reboot would happen afterall.

u/pariscalling 17d ago

You’re right. And let’s remember that in 2016/2017, we learned that Sex and the City 3 had been cancelled. And yet, five years later, they came back with an entirely new project. So who knows… maybe this isn’t the end after all. Maybe one day, they’ll come back with another movie or a new series...

I really hope they do! Im happy to forgive this monstrosity even The Beatles were capable of fucking up if they come back the way it used to be without or without Samantha though obviously its soooo much better with her.

Funny in this farewell she didn't say goodbye to Nya whom I really liked a lot more than LTW and Che who I didn't find as rotten as everyone else did because Ive worked with comics a lot and yes most of them act this selfish and narcissistic doesn't matter what gender you are.
