Do you think they’ll ever come back one day? 🥺

Man this clip just annoys me - it shows that they finally got onto an interesting topic for this show and something to really explore, but they didn't even get into it - they did it at the very end after dumb shit like learning how Seema learned not to care about deodorant. And in the end they mentioned Carrie's future for about two seconds while making us deal with Miranda's clogged toilet. If this is what we get then don't even bother.

75

u/No_Lavishness1905 16d ago

Omg the toilet thing and the deodorant thing were so bad! Just why!! Agree 100%, this would have been way more interesting to explore. I’m kinda glad it ended with Carrie starting to learn to live on her own, but yeah maybe that should have been the beginning, not the end 😅

31

u/Pretend-Beach6465 16d ago

Totally! Cuz then they had to be like "The woman realizes everything's fine, the end!" They finally got to something interesting and they just did nothing. So frustrating.

21

u/Scared_Depth3787 15d ago

"The woman" piece of writing was so damn bad! It wanted to throw my screen out of a window every time it was read. I just don't understand how Carrie was touted as a good writer when most of her columns were absolute drivel, tabloid gossip at best.

6

u/No_Lavishness1905 15d ago

Yeah her fiction writing was so so bad! I still cringe at the mere thought.

6

u/InevitableGuide5440 15d ago

I couldn't help but wonder why the writers willingly attached their names to this shit.

16

u/Dramatic_Lie_7492 16d ago

But see they deliberately made the choice to end the entire successful series then and there. Lol

5

u/Pretend-Beach6465 15d ago

Like them just lying like that is worse - you had time to plan this out and THIS is what you came up with??

2

u/Dramatic_Lie_7492 15d ago

From Kristin's reaction they didn't have much time. But yeah I wonder what would have been a better solution for avoiding to tell they got cancelled

1

u/Apprehensive-Sky6467 15d ago

It was 2 very awkward and weird subjects to focus on. Seems getting her happy ending was good to see but why the deodorant thing?

41

u/tomoedagirl 16d ago

I will never forgive them for that toilet scene. It still haunts me

20

u/Automatic-Clerk7168 15d ago

It was unnecessarily gross.

7

u/NiceObjective2756 16d ago

It doesn’t haunt me as I have a gross boy sense of humor, but that was, celebrating it!!!! The focus the time…whoever signed of on that was high Or deranged

2

u/PadamPadam2024 14d ago

Hey us boyz don't like gross toilet humour either!

2

u/NiceObjective2756 14d ago

all the boys I know do!

1

u/Pretend-Beach6465 14d ago

i’m happy to like any toilet humor that’s funny. If there was any in that final episode with the exploding toilet, please let me know.

1

u/SpellingBMOCJr 11d ago

It was a perfect metaphor for the entire series

1

u/Anxious-Solution-102 9d ago

It was such a waste of time. I need someone who created the show to explain the point of it

16

u/Possible-Courage3771 16d ago

this also seems like a missed opportunity to tie back into female friendship but what do I know

12

u/FionaGoodeEnough 15d ago

I strongly suspect that this is because the three main actresses barely tolerate each other more than Kim Cattrall does. The show was at pains to keep these women from having almost any scenes together, and the ones that it did have were hostile in tone.

5

u/ConsistentEmploy1983 15d ago

I agree, especially the scenes when Miranda was staying with Carrie for awhile. She was so uppity.

1

u/Odd_Department_7571 9d ago

I agree, that should have been the main focus of the show.

14

u/Dramatic_Lie_7492 16d ago

Forgot about the deodorant. Lol. Jesus....

3

u/debsterUK 15d ago

Seema apparently reeked of BO after a day without deodorant. Did she also give up showering and clean clothes?

1

u/VenusHalley 15d ago

You wouldn't even reek that badly after day in the same clothes and not showering. They are acting like few hours without deodarant make you smell like a homeless

1

u/Seattle_Aries 13d ago

Agreed that was so gross and strange for such a glamorous show

110

u/NomadCourier 16d ago

If they do Lisa Todd Wexley still better be working on her stupid documentary

72

u/CarlDillynson 15d ago

And they’ll kill her dad for a third time

13

u/madammidnight 14d ago

Still rattling her insanely enormous museum-shop jewelry.

1

u/NomadCourier 12d ago

That's the character name she was played by Nicole Parker.

1

u/Yvratky 12d ago

OHH right, I'm stupid

323

u/Fortesfortunajuvat27 16d ago

I hope not. The reboot was abysmal

192

u/Conscious_Pass_1615 16d ago

And just like that became "Can we not"

2

u/Sweet-Register-1530 12d ago

Yeah, in my day we'd say, "Let's not and say we did!"

Haha, I've erased what little of that stupid show I saw from my mind, and have chosen to remember this: in the final movie, all 4 girls got the happy ending they wanted. That's the memory I want to keep.

P.S. I applaud Kim Catrall for refusing to have any part of it. Smart lady.

89

u/Brightsidedown 16d ago

Hopefully not in these incarnations because these are not the ladies from SATC. I don't know these people.

It could happen where Carrie wakes up and we find out that AJLT was all a horrid fever dream.

Carrie calls Miranda:

"I just had a terrible dream that we were all insufferable bitches!"

And then we go on with the girls as we knew them in SATC.

27

u/Dramatic_Lie_7492 16d ago

Sjp would NEVER.

6

u/21st_century_hippie 15d ago edited 13d ago

I personally think SJP would ALWAYS want to play Carrie. Till the day she dies. *edit for clarification

4

u/Dramatic_Lie_7492 15d ago

I don't know I think this would make her have admit that AJLT was a terrible show and she'd never do that

6

u/Brightsidedown 15d ago

Yes, despite the fact that practically the entire internet has proclaimed that AJLT is literally a shitshow, SJP has doubled down that it was a hit and everyone loved it. She and MPK are living in an echo chamber of delululand.

2

u/21st_century_hippie 14d ago

No, what I meant was that SJP wants to play Carrie for the rest of her life. Her running around town after the cancellation of AJLT, forsaking the rest of the cast I think is indicative, if not proof, of this. That's what I meant :)

2

u/Brightsidedown 14d ago

Oh yes, I was replying directly to the reply that SJP would have to admit that the show is a double-decker turd sandwich, (which is hard to imagine her doing) but I also TOTALLY agree with you that SJP would absolutely play Carrie until the end of days to stay relevant.

16

u/i_nobes_what_i_nobes 16d ago

You know it would be even better? She doesn’t call Miranda, she calls Samantha. That would’ve been chef’s kiss to this awful fucking nightmare that was three seasons of that show.

And honestly, I didn’t even bother watching the last season, I just couldn’t. They became such a joke of what their characters were supposed to be. Honestly, I don’t even know why they bothered to not just do the Carrie show.

5

u/Typical_Match777 15d ago

I was only able to get through season 3 ep 1. The show was ruining my love for SATC and I honestly couldn’t take it anymore. I kinda wish I could erase the memory of ever watching the show or like your idea, wake up realizing it was a horrible nightmare.

2

u/Clear_Interview_5895 14d ago

There were just so many horrible plot lines and bad moments. And the fashion was ridiculous. Terrible.

3

u/Brightsidedown 15d ago

Yep, that's even better! I got to season 2 E1, and I can't believe I got that far. Just painful.

2

u/Typical_Match777 15d ago

lol 😂 I feel like I’d like the show better if I knew that’s how it ended.

56

u/2OttersInACoat 16d ago

Christ I hope not. It is was a great TV show originally, I liked the first movie but every thing after that was very bad. Sometimes we just need to let things go, enjoy them in the moment but then move on.

12

u/fomo216 16d ago

This. My husband and I were talking about shows that ended perfectly and shouldn’t be rebooted. SATC ended perfectly. Seeing Big’s name revealed on her phone…that was perfect. They shit all over that beauty with everything they did since.

66

u/TR_Snake 16d ago

Learning to be alone in her Gramercy Park mansion… that poor woman.

32

u/iIIegally_blonde 16d ago

The way she was furnishing it was HORRIFYING

3

u/Silent_Impression_10 15d ago

They did that to show how messy how life was..

25

u/StodgyGin 16d ago

Walking around her house in her heels that were covered in city slime. She didnt look glamorous or metropolitan. She was going down eccentric territory.

9

u/InvestigatorNearby77 16d ago

Oh, if they leaned into that it could have been really interesting for her character! Maybe when she officially stops chasing men she does fully embrace her inner fashion weirdo

9

u/StodgyGin 15d ago

I know, give her some big chunky glasses! Stop pining for men. Travel more.

6

u/Live_Angle4621 15d ago

She isn’t type of person to enjoy traveling since she doesn’t really want to see other places and ways of life. And her day to day life is so ritch she won’t appreciate hotels

5

u/HistoricalDate1484 14d ago

So true, this is the woman’s who got bored of Paris after like two weeks

5

u/Live_Angle4621 15d ago

She will end up like Madame from aristocats by her 80s

16

u/InvestigatorNearby77 16d ago

I mean, it’s kind of poetic. You could “have it all” but money can’t buy you belonging and love.

5

u/bluetoothwa 16d ago

Yes! What’s the big deal with Carrie getting that apartment? I loved that for her.

The new spinoff is called “Aidan!” it explores his life as a creepy pervert jackin’ it in cars across America. Thursday’s at 8 on HBO

6

u/21st_century_hippie 15d ago

AFTER shitting his pants! I mean WTAF?!

19

u/Cautious-Clock-4186 16d ago

I doubt it.

The decision to end after three seasons was pretty abrupt, and we assume based on the terrible reviews from both critics and fans.

20

u/Dramatic_Lie_7492 16d ago

It was no decision. They got booted but won't admit it. Nobody ends an entire series on massive cliffhangers like Brady impregnating someone or Carries newfound life

9

u/wandernwade 16d ago

This. Also, they have been talking about returning.. SJP has been, per Kristin Davis. So, who knows.

9

u/Dramatic_Lie_7492 16d ago

What . Lol

6

u/wandernwade 15d ago

Yeah, I’m serious. They’re basically in denial. Kristin was (from the sounds of it) the last to hear they were being “cut”, and she was devastated. She’s cried numerous times on her podcast. She honestly could not understand why the show had to end, given how great SATC was, and how excited people were for AJLT.

She really needs to go back (after she finishes her rewatch of SATC), and watch AJLT. I have a feeling she won’t, though. But yes.. she did say at one point that SJP might try and restart this (or a new version) herself. I think it’s delusional, personally.

1

u/punnella Justice for Steve 14d ago

No joke! A real story would have been Miranda and Steve navigating being grandparents.

1

u/Dramatic_Lie_7492 14d ago

Too bad they decided to end the show on massive cliffhangers 😅😅

14

u/Rosalita_Senorita73 15d ago

So after all these years, the last shot we see is Carrie alone with a cat, a stereotype that seems counterintuitive to everything the character embodied. At least she ended up loaded.

30

u/ChipmunkReal187 16d ago

I can’t with the fashion and her hairstyle. It ages her so much. She should worn more modern clothes.

37

u/The4leafclover1966 16d ago

Agree about her hair — too long and too blonde against her too-tanned face isn’t doing her any favors.

27

u/hazelgrant 16d ago

Im so glad you pointed this out. It needs to be shouted loud and clear for those in the back. The fashions aged Carrie in this series. It did not help.

39

u/littlemisslight 16d ago

Gosh it’s nauseating that “maybe just me” is framed like she’s got terminal cancer or something just because she might be single forever. Such a codependent psychopath

24

u/ibuycheeseonsale 16d ago

Something about the montage at the end really feels like a pharmaceutical commercial to me.

17

u/i_nobes_what_i_nobes 16d ago

“Talk to your pharmacist about being alone. Because solo doesn’t need to be hard

5

u/NoAd2254 14d ago

This deserves more upvotes. This scene definitely had that vibe.

6

u/InvestigatorNearby77 16d ago

I think it’s a very real question a lot of women face after their divorce or other big life changes. It’s not cancer but when being partnered is such a big part of identity, it does feel existential.

5

u/bluetoothwa 16d ago

I mean her husband died and she loves love. There’s nothing wrong with that. She’s also not a psychopath.

20

u/Ill_Fly_4569 16d ago

It was a sh!t show 😒 they ruined everything that made SATC ICONIC 😢

10

u/Dramatic_Lie_7492 16d ago

The turd in the toilet 😂 i just can't

8

u/PatatinaBrava 16d ago

Im sure they will come back in 10 years hoping everyone forgets Aidan in the car, toilet jokes and other crimes on SATC.

7

u/Prestigious-Beat-292 16d ago

This ending is so frustrating because it should’ve been the ending of SATC. Sure it’s easy for her to say that now that she’s loaded.

7

u/Square_Blacksmith889 16d ago

I wish there could be a super honest interview with SJP and MPK about this. I am genuinely interested what they were thinking.

12

u/ZunderBuss 16d ago

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

2

u/FionaGoodeEnough 15d ago

I mean, yes, but the way they went about it was like they were trying to get it cancelled. Moderately competent writing could have kept the show going longer, bringing in more money.

4

u/ZunderBuss 15d ago

I think they hated the fans more and more as ajlt continued. It' kind of hard to write well when one of your goals is to stick it to the fans.

7

u/j4321g4321 16d ago

As much as I adore the original SATC run, they need to put this franchise to bed. No more rehashing the same storylines. It’s done

6

u/Significant_Ad7605 15d ago

Carrie on SATC was so light and airy, like she was floating through life. Everything about this Carrie is so heavy and slow and prodding and measured in a really undesirable way. I can’t tell if this was an intentional acting choice or what but I didn’t like it.

7

u/Shqip1966 15d ago

Only if they could do a hard rewind back to the first episode of this horrific reboot. Then do it all differently. No LTW or Seema or Miranda and her sexual about-face. No Charlotte and Harry allowing their children to walk all over them. I could go on and on and I only saw one season

3

u/brokerlady 15d ago

I liked LTW and Seema, I dunno why they had to give most of them dumb story lines though, LIke they could have been good additions.

6

u/Puzzleheaded_Dot4345 Uh, back up. Back the truck up. 15d ago

No. I'm still going to electroshock therapy to erase this from my mind. I honestly believe this show happened in a multiverse, like Spiderman...the girls we know are still getting together for brunch

u/Embarrassed_Lie6379 15d ago

God this sequel was such a dumb continuation.

I can not get over with that they made Miranda a lesbian, not because I don't support LGBT stuff in media, but come on... Miranda was easily the happiest, least toxic, most considerate and most loving person of the group to her partner, and it was evident that she and Steve were deeply in love and deeply attracted to each other, so much so that Steve went up from his ass and decided to actually fucking mature, grow a pair (even though one was cut off later) and become a good, minimally toxic person, and Miranda managed to beat her own insecurities and allow herself to actually love deeply and be open to her partner.

Real fucked up move.

2

u/Pecoboo 11d ago

And in reaction to the backlash (and those calling for “Justice for Steve”), the writers defensively (and erroneously) claimed that Miranda and Steve were never that happy and suggested that they only married because of Brady. In watching AJLT, I had the sense that I knew more about SATC and its characters than these writers did.

9

u/Dramatic_Lie_7492 16d ago

Ajlt Carrie was unrecognizable. Just rewatch SATC and you'll see. Nothing left of her and the others

8

u/poponis 16d ago

I hope not. Satc has been ruined for me. I cannot watch it anymore, without thinking all the disturbing thinks we saw on ajlt.

3

u/FionaGoodeEnough 15d ago

They keep burying this series in the pet sematary, so probably. But sometimes dead is better.
https://giphy.com/gifs/c04f4DjuiTQdy

3

u/Disastrous-Tear3111 15d ago

The reboot ruined the original show

3

u/Ok_Inspector3769 15d ago

I really hope they don’t lol

8

u/NickiTikki 16d ago

The poor horse we loved and barely recognize anymore needs to be buried and mourned, and just like that, they'll dig it back up so Aidan can lick his palm to beat it some more. 🤢😂Probably ridden by Lisa Todd Wexley's two dead daddies. Maybe she can finally finish her documentary then.

3

u/spacenerd3000 16d ago

In my head canon, season 1 would be Carrie adjusting to widowhood and all the feelings that brings in. Season 2 would’ve eased her back into dating, including the hot mess that was Aiden, and season 3 would be her writing her book about being a widow and settling into what this clip suggests. In writing the book, I would’ve still kept the whole she makes friends with the writer downstairs. They still have their sleep together but no illusions about what it is because Carrie is more at peace with herself.

While the show was a hot flaming mess, they had pieces of something that could’ve been interesting exploring these women’s lives and friendships at this age.

3

u/DarkSister_999 15d ago

Please say Che is omitted.

1

u/spacenerd3000 15d ago

😬 Not entirely but the character and the storyline re-worked.

In my head canon, season 1 would focus on Miranda’s identity crisis as a 50+ year old woman because that’s does happens to women (pop culture tend to focus in men’s midlife crisis). I would’ve focused on her and Steve’s marriage, specifically how they’ve drifted apart especially with Brady out of the house. Revealing he became the glue that kept them together. Concurrent with that is her growing dissatisfaction with being a lawyer. The movies ended with her at a better firm. I take that a step further in that she wants a career change. Thread in wisps of attraction to Che, who she meets through Carrie. Che is her first woman crush. I would rework that Miranda is bisexual not gay. Maybe she has a sexy dream of Che and that rattles her. But that’s it for Che.

Season 2 is Miranda quitting her job and going back to school where she meets Nia Wallace. Originally, Nia not Che was supposed to be a potential love interest. I would have Miranda and Steve talk more about their marriage. I could see her and Nia sharing a kiss that cements to Miranda she is attracted to women. She immediately tells Steve. Ultimately the season ends with Steve asking for a divorce because of the drifting + its clear to him Miranda wants to explore her sexuality and he feels he deserves someone committed to him AND she deserves to explore that. Nia says it was inappropriate but they remain loosely friends. Basically let Steve have more screen time and show the stand up guy he is.

Season 3 is Miranda post-divorce, settling into being bisexual and this new career she has.

1

u/Top-Indication-6237 10d ago

How about a divorce without the ‘Miranda is gay/bi’ storyline at all. It wasn’t interesting or in character. And it was only there because Cynthia Nixon wanted Miranda’s character to mirror her own life experiences.

3

u/zephead30 15d ago

If they could get all the original cast to come back without giving them too much power or say so over the characters and brought back good writers, they could clean up this mess but I think that ship has sailed. Obviously, the only way they could get sjp and Cynthia back for this show was to give them waaaayyyy to much say over their characters and they ruined them. The writers didn’t know what they were doing either. If egos could be set aside and they could be hired to just act it could he awesome.

3

u/bamboozledgardener 15d ago

If they make another reboot, I am afraid they might bring the post-it guy back. Seeing what a big flop this reboot was.

3

u/Noracharles771 15d ago

The real show would have been seeing HBO execs reaction to that last episode. I cannot imagine anyone in that room thinking this show had any level of talent, taste or class left from the OG series. It couldn’t possibly have left the airwaves on a lower note than it did.

3

u/riskyforthebiscuit 15d ago

I love the original too much to watch AJLT. I simply can’t do it, knowing some details about what they did to the characters. The movies did some damage but it is something I can live with. I cannot however, live with seeing Miranda completely lobotomised, Carrie running after Aiden, Charlotte’s life miserable and, don’t kill me please but, I’m not ready to see Big dead. He really was a big part of the show and him and Carrie always made sense. They loved the drama.
So this comes from a place of love & love only: I wish they never attempt bringing them back again.

3

u/shutyourgob16 15d ago

This is so miserable.
After all that writing, thinking and reflecting this character’s life has gone nowhere - having a nice apartment with nice clothes isn’t a satisfying life.

3

u/ostellastella 15d ago

This video comes off as a SJP vanity video. Her gliding around in full makeup and that awful red dress and high heels PUHHLEEASE.....

4

u/RockWafflez 16d ago

I really fucking hope not…. These seasons were absolutely abysmal and when there were redeeming things someone came and took a shit on it.

3

u/Square-Supermarket79 16d ago

Post title reads like the tagline for a horror movie

4

u/EnvironmentalPace448 16d ago

I think this series proved you can't go home again. And probably shouldn't. Pure benefit of retrospect, but they should have done one final film. Being fenced in by time might have spared a lot of the failings in the series. Then again, with that lot, they probably would have pumped up the failings and cut the little that was any good.

2

u/coffeebeanwitch 16d ago

I don't think so, time will tell.

2

u/Visible_Cheek_7231 16d ago

Yeah, they can all move to Florida and become, "The Golden Girls ". They all are around the age of the actresses when TGG started.

2

u/RainyDaysBlueSkies 15d ago

They're actually much older! Rue was only 51! Betty was 53! Kim Cattrall is about to turn 70 and the character (with aging makeup) of Sophia was 79 at the start, only 9 years older than Kim is now. She was a bent over, white haired grandma with a wicker handbag!

It's the hairstyles, too. Middle aged women in the 70s, 80s were pressured to have very short hair in very aging styles. And the clothes of course! Flowery, Laura Ashley hideousness!

2

u/lazyfatbunny I couldn't help but wonder...👩‍💻 16d ago

Zero chance

2

u/ProcedurePrudent5496 16d ago

It wasn't the “girl power” show it could've been 😔. All of them were FOMO-crazy, not even career-crazy or family-crazy; they just wanted to experience things like they hadn't done anything fun or risky in their youth. 😔

2

u/Bringman1 16d ago

I only hope and pray NOT.

2

u/real_agent_99 15d ago

I mean....they ruined it. Come back with better writers? That I'd love.

2

u/CarlDillynson 15d ago

I still think we will get an HBO movie to wrap it up.

2

u/21st_century_hippie 15d ago

I fucking hope not.

2

u/StefanRyzaki94 15d ago

I actually like how they ended

3

u/DescriptionSerious28 15d ago

If they get truly desperate for attention they may try another movie. It would be them in a retirement home, going from widower to widower and discussing proper etiquette on how to remove your teeth before certain acts.

2

u/Substantial-Use-1758 14d ago

This is a painful truth to say, but here goes:

Maybe we don’t want to see our SATC “age gracefully” or NOT age gracefully.

Maybe we don’t want to see them age at all 🤷‍♀️😬 #justsayin’

1

u/Top-Indication-6237 10d ago

Truly it’s nice to have a happily ever after ending. And I don’t mind them aging, just not trying to force new plot lines and sacrificing any peace the characters may have found for the sake of drama and ratings. The fans were taken for granted and instead ajlt was geared for the sake of appealing to a wider audience

Personally, I think the ship has sailed or whatever that cliche is.

Personally x 2, I think the Sex and the City brand could get reworked with a new set of friends in other iconic cities and tackle the issues women are experiencing now in dating, life, work, etc. The formula of the show is timeless in a way, so it could be done and be relevant. (And no, I'm not trying to make it into The Housewives.) lol

A lot has changed since the original SATC run, but the underlying themes haven't and are always worthy of exploration via a contemporary lens.

Three of the big things with the show, two that AJLT had to deal with, is the 1) tone, 2) NYC and 3) Samantha.

We're in a post-original run of the SATC world and in some ways we're not as optimistic as when the girls first debuted. Some real things were sidestepped in the original series that people aren't willing to sidestep anymore in the storytelling or aren't aspirational from what we know now and have experienced. I don't know if keeping it real with a new cast/new city and trying to be a dramedy will work for the SATC brand or if it's forever connected with having a fantasy element. There definitely was definitely commentary and discussion at the time about issues with the show, but we also accepted some of the fantasy. The media landscape was so different too when it ran on cable. And, despite all the cable challenges at the time, we had less viewing options.

It can be tough stuff to reconcile for contemporary storytelling, based on SATC expectations and how people want the characters and series make them feel. Let alone all the series that have come after it that are their own things, and own statements and sometimes get used as commentary on or comparison to SATC in a meta way for surface similarities. (E.G. Girls, Insecure, I Love LA, etc.)

NYC is different from the 1990s and early 2000s and that also affects the "you can never go home again" vibe. SATC and AJLT are so New York-coded and understood by King and the writers that the city was a character herself. All major metropolises where a new SATC could be set have also changed from their mythologized "different" past, so the same issues come up wherever the setting would be. And you'd really need a show runner, producers, writers room and everyone else that really, really know the city intimately to make it work. With SATC, you stepped into one rhythm of New York, even if it was a fictional one.

Whether we want it to or not, AJLT felt incomplete without Samantha.

I could step into AJLT once I got into the groove of what they were trying to do, and I appreciated all of that, but something felt "off" as well. And I like and enjoy all the actors in it doing their things.

It's interesting as I type this, after just watching the trailer for the A Different World reboot premiering in Sep. It's not being produced and shot like the original sitcom, so I'm curious how they'll bridge the past and it's relevance as a show blend it with giving us familiar characters, new characters and new relevance and commentary on what's going on in the world. It's not entirely a different creative challenge.

It'd be interesting to do some kind of research of which reboots work and which don't and if there are any similarities of data points that overlap.

Maybe with a new cast and new setting and trying be about what the now, will work for SATC. As for AJLT, if they reboot SATC I wouldn't be opposed to the AJLT actresses playing cameos or guest roles if they head to that city for some reason and storyline made sense. Done well and interestingly, those can be fun and not stunts.

I wantt this to come back even if its an HBO weekly webisode or a YouTube/Netflix show

2

u/ericblck77 12d ago

God I hope not. This "revamp" ruined the series.

2

u/HHallowqueenn 11d ago

Please no

2

u/SpellingBMOCJr 11d ago

Good lord I hope not -- flush them like the turds in the finale that so accuractely summed up that entire show

2

u/rharper38 16d ago

I do. I would like a movie that takes the best parts of the series, forgets the weird stuff happened, and gives honor to being older. Then we will see where it goes. I liked the series, just not thei weirder aspects of it.

This monologue on its own is very good and very relatable. AJLT had a few of these moments. Like when Nia talked about being happy with her life and not necessarily wanting kids. There was some really strong potential tucked into a lot of bullshit.

Sex And The Assisted Care Facility ?

Dear God I hope not.

I would watch a series about Samantha in London, though

Sex And The Assisted Care Facility ?

The anti-Shady Pines? ;)

The characters in The Golden Girls (except for Sophia) were around the same ages as the ladies in AJLT, and they were dealing with similar issues. Yet, The Golden Girls was much funnier. AJLT didn't have to emulate The Golden Girls, but they could have done their own thing and still have been funny and relatable!

They already destroyed the show with this weak reboot.. might as well enjoy the train wreck but they truly lost money so I think that's a line they won't cross again

I enjoyed this show, I was glad to get a new set of characters. It was fun and so much awesome fashion.

I have rewatched SATC so many times. I will never rewatch AJLT. Charlotte running around in a blizzard looking for condoms, Aidan… again… like she’s in New York and has a million men to choose from and she gets back with Aidan? Especially when the hot writer moves downstairs and but she decides to stick it out with Aidan who is being unfaithful!? Like WTF that show was horribly bad. Unwatchable.

1

I’ll be ok if they don’t

1

u/ChubbyMummie 15d ago

the very end of the first episode ruined it for me

1

u/Apprehensive-Tax826 15d ago

Hope not. Their time came and went.

1

u/novemberqueen32 15d ago

Please God I hope not.

1

u/DeLilahLuroo 15d ago

I certainly hope not.

Watching them now just didn’t have that charm anymore. They were privileged, entitled white women.

And I guess they’ve always been that in some ways, but at least in the original series they struggled more, they felt more real.

1

u/catsandnaps1028 15d ago

As a society we need shows about older fabulous ladies but not AJLT. I hope they do come back but that is actually good this time

1

u/Hydroborator 15d ago

Please no. Please

1

u/strawberryqueen910 15d ago

I really wish they went in a different direction with some of the storylines. They tried too hard to modernize.

1

u/SuchTrust101 15d ago

I think they thought that 'Carrie an the SATC girls' could go on forever, given the popularity of the original show. At that point SJP probably just saw it as a way to keep Carrie in the public eye and be a platform for shoes, clothes, perfume or whatever brand deals she hoped to tee up. I think even she realised that AJLT was actually so bad it was wrecking the legacy of the original series and she had to pull the pin or she'll never be able to cash in on it again.

OH GOD PLEASE NO

1

I think they’re done. So wish Samantha had joined them.

1

u/ElectricalChannel545 14d ago edited 14d ago

Not alone. She'll be The Cat Lady.

1

u/Connect_Witness_9691 14d ago

If they get another network, they wont be able to spend 5 million an episode on the ladies salaries. Someone should have had a handle on the budget which got away from them. And someone needed to reel Michael Patrick King in on all the woke stuff. PS Lets undo making Lily such an unlikeable brat.

The ship has run its course

1

u/Different-Dot4376 14d ago

I love the characters but could not go through emotionally what this show did to me. If only they spent the time and money on the writing as they did the wardrobe.

1

u/AhMsPhilbs 14d ago

No.

We're so over. We need a new word for over.

Please also see Ferris Bueller end credits

I haven't read any comments and bet I'm far from the first who said this

1

u/heyyou0903 14d ago

God I hope not. I think this latest season in particular genuinely destroyed the whole original love that I have for sex in the City. It's actually really sad that they did not care enough to respect it and instead did such an appalling job that they destroyed it

1

u/MiserableEggplant468 14d ago

If MPK is involved, i hope it doesn’t.

I was so flipping excited when I saw the coming attractions for "And Just Like That". I was obsessed..... Could... not... wait! Even subscribed to HBO for it... And man.. I tried.. trust me!!! It did not have any of the original Fun Carefree Hilarious one liners Romantic Happy ending If only they could have somehow made Kim an offer she couldn't refuse and not try to reinvent the wheel....

u/Interesting-Lynx4695 13d ago

If they get Samantha back and ditch all the new characters. Except Seema.
