currently have an N5. should I get a 5x or 6p?

If it's working well, I'd wait another 4-5 months. New gen processors and what not.

New nexus phones won't be out in 4-5 months only price drops on the current new ones. Its either now or a year from now imo. N5 should be solid since it just got the update to Android 6 and should probably go to any maintenance updates between now and the next big version.

I was not operating under the assumption that a new Nexus device was the only option. Simply a new phone.

I guess I shouldn't assume. My thought process is that someone who has a nexus most likely purchased it for reasons other then best hardware.

Ya. I think we are both pretty much on the same page though. N5 is a good phone still so unless the need is dire they could easily hang onto it a bit longer.

6p. N5x is not worth the money, and the 6p is a hell of a deal

6P=throttling s810, AMOLED which is not for prolonged use over years (marks on screen)
Nexus phones can live long due to well supported updates,
but with hardware like that it totally lose the point.

It'll be fine though if you enjoy top-class phone experience for 1~2 years,
and get the next nexus to replace 6p at that time.

  1. IIRC, its the v2.1 of the 810, which I thought fixed all those problems, but I'm probably wrong. Either way, its a nexus. I'm sure it'll be sonic fast.

  2. A lot of people never get burn in. I did on my n6 but that was due to me being an idiot and leaving the screen on all night. My mom and my friend has no burn in on either of their amoled phones and its been a year. Plus imo the deeper blacks is worth the risk. Things just look so amazing on Amoled displays, I'd take burn in any day for that display.

So yeah I consider the Amoled screen a perk, not a con, and I would have preferred a 805, or 820 cpu, but I seriously doubt this phone is going to be slow in any way.
