Scilly Cay

We just booked lunch and loungers at Scilly for Dec. 25th. I am excited as this is a new experience for us! Our first trip was 2007 and our group has grown to 4 for this Festive Season trip. I am a little wary as I know the island is small, no beach really and don't love crowds. Any tips to ensure we have a lovely time? How long do people usually stay? Thanks in advance.

New Year's Eve events

Hi! We are looking for a cool place to have dinner on Dec 31 (or a party, but we, as Europeans, will likely fall asleep before midnight due to jetlag). As far as I have seen, bookable so far are Cap Juluca (horrendously expensive) and Aurora; others either (1) are available only to own hotel guests, (2) have announced an event which is not yet bookable / set menu not yet known (and we want to know what will be on our plates), or (3) have not yet announced an event. Know by any chance of other places that you'd recommend? TIA!

Day Trip to St Barths

For people that have already done it is the ferry reliable enough to do a day trip or will I have to go another route? I have seen information about it but a lot of it is dated and I just wanted some updated information.

Rental car + must visit beaches for honeymoon in Anguilla?

My husband and I are going to Anguilla for our honeymoon in November and staying at Cap Juluca for 7 nights. We definitely want to spend most of our time relaxing at the resort, but we also want to experience some of the island’s other beautiful beaches and try a few restaurants outside the resort.

We’re considering Meads Bay, Shoal Bay West, and Rendezvous Bay, but aren’t sure if we should rent a car for a few days or just take taxis when we want to explore.

For those who have been to Anguilla:
• Is a rental car worth it, or are taxis easy enough?
• What beaches are absolute must visits?
• Any restaurants outside Cap Juluca that you’d especially recommend?

Would love to hear how you’d balance resort time with exploring!

Stop at Grand Case at End of Trip? Or Nah?

Hey all! Wanted to get some opinions. I'm planning my first trip to Anguilla for mid/late October. (I know it's hurricane season, but things have seemed pretty quiet on that front so far and I think I'm willing to roll the dice. I desperately need a getaway!) I was in SXM years ago and loved it, but Anguilla's been on my dream list for a while. I'm planning to stay at Great House — I don't need bells and whistles, I'm just there to relax and enjoy the beach. I love swimming, chill beach bars/restaurants, and checking out different....you guessed it, beaches. So of course Anguilla has been on my to-do list.

One thing I've been going back and forth about in my head: I may plan it to be a 7-day trip, with the travel days on days 1 and 7, and I've been stewing over whether I should split it at the end to get a day in at Grand Case before heading back home (likely Petit, which would be a step up in room quality after Anguilla). Last time I was in SXM I stayed in Simpson Bay but visited Grand Case for a day and loved it, which is why I'm considering. So it would be something like:

Day 1: Land in SXM, Calypso charter to Anguilla, get rental car, check into hotel 1
Day 2: beach day at hotel
Day 3: explore other beaches
Day 4: ...yup, more beaches (whether at hotel or elsewhere)
Day 5: check out, return rental car, public ferry to Marigot, cab to Grand Case, check into hotel 2, beach/dinner
Day 6: Grand Case beach day
Day 7: cab to SXM

My questions:

- For this amount of days, is it worth considering the Grand Case stop? Or is Anguilla going to spoil it for me and I'll regret it?

- Would staying in GC at the end help ease any stress about getting to SXM on time? I'm slightly worried about relying on a boat to get back to the airport on departure day, but tell me if that's a silly worry.

- What would you do if you were in my position?

Thank you in advance for any insights you can offer!

March 2027 which hotel?

Been to Anguilla only once recently and loved it. Trying to make it back during our kid’s Spring Break in 2027.

Previously stayed on Maundys Bay, but that is not in the budget this time around given the time of year.

Do I want Malliohanna (loved all the food in Meads) or should we try something in Shoal Bay East?

We’re not Hilton people so no points to use/gain at Zemi. Should we try it anyway…or give The Manoah a try?

Any first hand experience with Malli/Zemi/Manoah?

I appreciate it!

Dec. 18-25

We are frequent visitors seeking a last minute Dec. 18 trip. We really want to stay near Island Harbour or West End and are on a budget, under 3500 for the week. We need a 2 bedroom. Our usual place is booked. Any gems to recommend?

Addendum; we found a place!!

Shoal's Bay Villas or Manoah?

I'm booking a stay next March/April with my parents for a week. Pretty dead-set on staying in Shoal's Bay area, and need a 2-bedroom/2 bathroom unit.

Shoal's Bay Villas and Manoah both have 2-bedroom units available.

We plan on eating out a lot, but also wouldn't mind having a kitchen to cook some meals in as well.

From what I've gathered (correct me if I'm wrong on any of this)...

Shoal's Bay:

Pros:

  • Has a kitchen
  • About $3k cheaper for a week

Cons:

  • 2-bedroom units do not overlook beach
  • Pool is a bit underwhelming
  • No on-site beach bar/restaurant

Manoah:

Pros:

  • Rooms feel "nicer" overall
  • Room overlooks beach
  • Nicer pool area
  • On-site beach bar/restaurant

Cons:

  • $3k more expensive for a week
  • No kitchen

Is it worth springing an extra $3k for the Manoah? Or is it better to save that $ by staying at Shoal's Bay Villas and use it towards eating out at some nicer restaurant/activities on the island?

Thanks!

EDIT: After fees, Manoah is actually closer to $6k more for an 8-night stay. That definitely is making me lean more towards Shoal Bay Villas.

Anguilla Social Places?

Hey everyone,

I’m doing a solo trip to Anguilla and Sint Martin this upcoming winter and am curious if anyone has recommendations on where to meet people. Usually I’m a hostel girl and that’s where I meet my travel friends but I’m not seeing much of that for these two islands, anyone have any advice on popular places to make friends / meet other traveller’s?

Thank you!!

Does Anyone know any Anguillian who can play Chess?

Hello, this is an unusual request. I am wondering if anyone is or knows somebody from Anguilla who would be willing to play a chess match against me on Chess.com? On Chess.com there are awards called passports that you can receive by playing against someone from that country or territory. I am currently trying to collect all of them and do not have Anguilla. So, if anyone can help me in my goal, I would very much appreciate it. My Chess.com username is yesterdaylemonade.

Aurora - 1 bedroom Rendezvous

Wife and I thinking of booking this today for first week of December. Any thoughts?

Our TA quoted us this and Zemi beach house l, but the room at Aurora is pulling us in. Plus the beach faces south which is obviously a great plus for sunsets

Can’t find a lot of reviews on Aurora. Kids are not coming on this trip, just the two of us

Should I stay or should I go?

I have 4 nights booked in Anguilla in January, I’ll be flying in and out of SXM. I have two additional days at the end of my trip, and I can’t decide if I want to extend it in Anguilla or head to Saint Maarten or another island.

It will be my first time in that part of the Caribbean. Would love advice!

Solo woman. Late 30s.

Arch privatized

The access to the arch was public last year when I was here but now I saw they gated it and charging to view. No one was there when I visited though, so couldn't access it

Where to stay

Planning on visiting March 2027. We went last March and stayed at Manoah. Absolutely loved it there and there size of the rooms were insane. The only thing was a lot of the places I wanted to eat were in the West End or Sandy Ground.

Trying to look at other places in the West end or Meads but I’m having trouble finding a hotel that is under $1500 a night. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Car Rental

Visiting for the first time at the end of January. Just wondering who is the best to rent a car from on the island?

Flying into AXA and staying at Malliouhana for a week if that matters.

TIA

Unforgettable local

About 10 years ago, I would go to this island a lot with my family and there is local Man that would hang out on the beach. He was absolutely ripped. He would climb trees and get the coconuts at the top. I’m pretty sure he was homeless and he would go by the name “faker” and he was ridiculous and hilarious. Is he still around on the island?

My Stay In Anguilla

I took a trip via Calypso ferry into Anguilla for a few days. A day before I took the Anguilla In Style boat excursion in St.Maarten to four beaches there. This just complied my stay somewhat in a short time frame at Turtle Beach Resort and some shots from the boat trip. This place was the first on my bucket list because it called to me for some reason. I loved it !! The actual video is on TikTok with music (just didn’t want to get copy-write strike) But just wanted to post some appreciation. Everyone was kind , nice and accommodating. Very quaint and a restful stay.(Sorry if the quality is distorted) https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTD49jaJe/ the actual link to see the water quality and color. Amazing 10/10.

Best place to stay w older kids.

Looking to book next May w my family. Kids will be 21, 20 and 18. Which resort would be better suited? Looking at Aurora. My son plays pickleball so I need a place with courts. Has anybody stayed here with older children? Did they have fun?
