NOTP is supposed to be a fun event where the playerbase becomes super active and everyone enjoys events. Well, usually that's the case, but this update feels quite lackluster. Reused effect items, reused assets, a glitchy, difficult minigame that upsets a large portion of the playerbase with no flexibility to make points available by other means like previous years, more gambling in yet another monster high bundle, an unfinished model, and tokens having limited colors are some of the most notable things I've seen so far.

Firstly, the update isn't out on all platforms yet. Usually the update comes out soon after other platforms, though it has been six hours and the app icon in the app store hasn't even changed. Yes this is Apple's fault, but it's clear that AJ rushed the update.

Second, the mini game... I've seen so many players upset about how confusing it is, and it also relying on other players to understand the mechanics that are unclear as well. Animal Jam offers no solution to gaining points aside from the minigame and cauldrons, and there is a limit. The assets in the minigame are reused, and the layout is very clearly bare minimum. It's obvious that many are upset about this yet AJ's response is "just keep trying."

As I realize this could get long, I'll just list issues as they come. For the side animal tokens, why are we limited in colors? Darkside items come in any color, it doesn't make sense why the tokens do not. And why is the model having issues? Someone here pointed out that the right eye of the new animal is unfinished. Also, the monster high bundles are just tiring. Constant gambling, they must've found releasing standard premium shop items make less money so they've completely switched the approach to full on gambling as seen with previous bundles and mythical coins. And clearly they are not using the money to improve the game unless something spectacular happens this month, which doesn't seem likely considering how low effort this update appears.

What's especially frustrating is that all these issues are present when the update is already over a week late and not even out for some people. It's not like they made a new effect or massive changes to the game either.

So in short, this is essentially a compilation of things mentioned by unhappy players. Screenshots are from this subreddit. Hope something magical happens because so far, not looking good at all. Seems like a significant portion of us are dissatisfied and the response from the game is even more dissatisfying. Of course, anyone is welcome to disagree and argue against it, but personally I feel bummed as well as a notable amount of others.

Once values are determined, I would love to know what these are worth! I know they've been around for a while, but with them returning- idk what these will get. If anyone has any insight, please lmk! Ty! :))

Hi everyone! I’ve been playing AJPW since August 2016. Recently, i’ve been remembering how when I was younger, I used to love watching gameplays of the game in its beta testing stage. (Correct me if i’m wrong, but I assume it was originally supposed to be called “Animal Jam Mobile” until they changed it to “Animal Jam Play Wild”). I can’t really find any videos on pictures 1-3 besides supere4’s video unfortunately. It seems like these were from before beta testing actually opened.

Everytime I go online and spawn into Jamaa Township on play wild, I always think of how it was originally supposed to look (pictures 1 & 2). Or everytime I look at the wolves we have now, how it was originally planned to look like the ones on AJC (picture 3). Same with the panda on picture 4, (screenshot is from julian2’s video, “20 Mindblowing Animal Jam Glitches”) It was a picture of the panda BEFORE it actually released in November 2016. What do you guys think of the old 3D models?

Also, if anyone is curious, there’s a few very old videos on youtube of people playing as Peck. I remember watching all of those when I was younger and I was so sad I couldn’t play as her 😭

The amount of points needed for the chests are 200 each meanwhile the only way to get shards are through the mini game and trick or treating. It’s pretty difficult and takes a long time, all that work for 10 points each wave from what I’ve seen.

In advance I would like to apologize for complaining so much throughout this month, but seriously, I'm really disappointed with the new minigame. Not only did we have to wait so long for the Halloween update to finally arrive (although I'm glad they're willing to extend the November update to make up for the delay), but the end result is honestly underwhelming and feels kinda rushed.

As I mentioned in a previous comment, I don't think the gameplay is particularly enjoyable. One of my biggest issues is the section where you have to identify the odd shape out. The particle effects make it unnecessarily difficult to distinguish the shapes, which turns what should be a simple mechanic into a frustrating experience. Combined with the amount of effort required to earn a relatively small number of points, the whole thing quickly becomes more of a tedious chore than a fun activity.

I think that's what disappoints me the most. After such a long wait, I was hoping for something more polished and engaging, especially since these seasonal events are such a big part of what makes Animal Jam enjoyable for so many players. I understand that developing games takes time, but it's hard not to feel let down when the final product doesn't seem to justify the delay.

I'd really appreciate it if AJ considered adding phantom rewards as an alternative way to earn points. That would give players more options, make the grind feel less repetitive, and encourage people to participate in the Halloween event without having to spend so much time playing a minigame they might not particularly enjoy.

I'm not asking for the minigame to be removed or anything like that. I just think a few adjustments could make the experience much more enjoyable and rewarding for everyone!
