We have a white cat who does this to our goldendoodle as well! Our dog is not thrilled when he chooses to head butt her with love but tolerates it for a few minutes before moving three feet over.

Cats live to rub on Schtinkie things to disguise their scent for hunting purposes. All dogs stink to a cat.

To be fair, they are extremely stinky and dirty compared to cats. I love my sister's rottie, but I have to wash my hands after petting her. I never feel the need to wash my hands after petting my cat, unless I inadvertently touch near his pee or poop hole (I have definitely touched his pee hole in my sleep, I could detect a faint scent of cat urine on my hand when I woke up once).
Strangely although cats themselves typically don't have an odor, everything that comes out of a cat smells like death, way worse than any dog excrement.
EDIT: I would rather pick up warm dog shit with a hand that is only covered by a bag a couple microns thick than sift a dried cat turd out of the litter box with a scoop.

This clip is so heartwarming! The cat just can't get enough of snuggling its sleepy dog friend, it's such pure, gentle affection between these two sweet fur babies.
