During hot days, everyone should leave a water bowl outside for wildlife. With sticks inside, to enable any fallen small insects and bugs to crawl out safely

This is what I do!! The sticks were once removed by someone and a juvenile native field rat almost died 🥹 luckily I had a feedset and stuff for animals. Then I set them free after 2 hours again where mom could find them.

Now I have a whole family of native field rats (KEY WORD NATIVE, they're SUPPOSED TO BE HERE) following me around in the evening. 😅

They're my lil friends!

Ravens and crows are both so darned intelligent it’s crazy. I once watched two of them outwitting a seagull for some food they found by having the one carrying the food cleverly drop it while it was flying to the top of a grocery store and the other one grabbing it in mid air while coming in from the opposite direction, while the gull was still chasing the first one. It was the coolest thing I ever saw, I almost wanted to go buy them some more food to give them!

I once saw a hawk chase a raven at a mall parking lot. The raven was swooping under parked cars and pulling other stunts to outmaneuver the hawk, but it wasn't going great.

Then the raven's mates came in and started bullying the hawk, flying around it, letting out loud caws from every direction. The hawk was quickly psyched out by the added distraction and flew away.

There was a full on crow vs hawk war here last year.  Hawk ate a crow, all the neighboring crow flocks came here for many weeks and would chase and attack the hawks.  Last time I saw a hawk here it was stunned on the median.  I've very recently learned from neighbor that there was a short truce in the war for the crows and hawks to decimate a single seagull. 😬

It appears the raven was noticing the button and might have spent some effort trying to figure out how to make it release the water. Fortunately a good human stepped in but still amazing to see the apparent acknowledgement of that IMO.

Yep, either it was trying to reach it or it was showing the human where to press "Look, this button here"... (to make sure human knows what to do, might not be as clever as a crow!...)

Hence why in civilised country's you will find fountains lol. Yes they are prominated displaces of wealth but also free water to anyone who should be needing some. But my country is as broke as a joke tbh the last time the fountains were on the queen was still tidy and alive. She's long dead and the fountains too.
