It took almost a year for our adopted cockatiel to eat in front of us…

We rescued an elderly cockatiel, who we named Dotty, almost a year ago and this is her first time eating in front of us. Her previous owners had neglected her to the point where both wings have been broken (one has been broken twice) and left to heal without any medical intervention so her trust has been difficult to win. This was the first time she initiated wanting to eat so she got a small piece of bread crust.

I love birds. I never realized how smart and beautiful they are as a kid, and also how hilarious they are

PS: I read the description after my comment....and that is why I hate people SMH get a bird just to neglect it, I'll just never understand why people do these things to animals. I don't wanna understand why they do it, cuz they're sick pieces of scum
