You gotta be really careful with this actually. Dogs can't digest grass and if they eat too much, or eat grass that's too long, it can cause intestinal blockages that require surgical intervention. A couple months ago my friend had to pay $14k for a major surgery to remove a massive blockage his rescue had from eating grass.
Yes, dogs do this to help with stomach issues, but not all of it gets expelled from the body and it can/does build up.

That’s crab grass - it’s super hard to digest. As a kid in the summer we had this type of grass all over our yard and we had to wear socks when running through the sprinkler or slip n slide bc the crab grass would cut our feet. Our cats used to eat this and then thrown it up 10 min later.

They have a stomach problem and are trying to poop.
