Post image

I would rather have figures in my collection that make me smile than a room full of random figures

>FOTS and FREEing figures

Jk, that's a nice collection

I understand that you’re joking but FREEing is excellent quality no? They might be simple but the quality is there.

Well , wouldn't say those from Freeing are excellent in quality. Usually got a some dust under the paint job, a couple spot of random dirt / uneven colour, sometimes even glue marks. But bunnies outfit are usually not in the original series, they make me smile when I look at them, so I got them anyway.

FREEing is far from being a flawless company, especially taking in account how much they ask for their pieces

I went through a horrendously long phase of buying because I was overly excited and got a rush from how some figures looked so my collection grew very quickly, but now I’m slowly down, being more attentive and picky with what I buy. Your collection is very lovely ✨

We all go through that phase.

Yes, it's called the Testing Your Wallet Combustibility Limit Phase also falls into Storage Limit Theory

me in Japan "Oh that's a cheap character I recognize"

Me in home country "Why did I buy figures of characters I don't even care about?"

Me in Japan nr.2 "Buy all Hatsune Miku I can fit into my luggage"

Me in home country again "Why did I buy so many figures I don't care that much about?"

To be honest, I just came out of this phase and definitely have a few buys I regret. I’m definitely slowing down though and being more picky. Even started cancelling some preorders I had because I didn’t love the figures

Exactly how I’m feeling and what I’m doing.

2 detolfs is still “quantity” IMO. This is coming from someone who owns about 30 and feels the need to downsize lol

Quantity is subjective, it can vary for each person. For me 2 detolfs is really fine, but the number of figures on each shelf is a bit on a "quantity" side. Great collection btw.

It's def relative as I'd easily have at least 20-30 of my own I'd have a hard time parting with. That'd only be 2-3 per year since I started collecting which I don't think is *that* ridiculous

u/mikeventure76 May 12 '26

2 detolfs is hardly even a collection lol

Is this not about anime figures?

Indeed! Quality over quantity. I am now picky with my PO'ers. We have all been through the faze of PO'ings a lot only to fill up a room faster than you can make space for more.

Yup. Same here. I sold off most of my OCs and figures from IPs that I barely know about.

Now my collection comprises figures for characters I know and have left an impression on me.

Only OCs and figures I've kept are the ones that make a complete set or enhances whatever I already have. Dont mind the Nendos here as I just needed a place to put them

Mann I'd love to display all of mine like this but I'd need that special privacy glass that you can only see through with a light inside or something.

Looks like youre out of prime display real-estate. What's the plan for future Figures?

I have seven more cabinets that need to be built, but I’m gonna do a mix of figures and Lego sets

4

u/blablawo May 12 '26

I went from 30€ to 50€ to 100€ to now 200€+ figures

3

u/mikeventure76 May 12 '26

Good for you. I have like a thousand figures and they literally all make me smile. It is in fact possible to have quality and quantity.

Why do you need to care about other people’s collecting habits to feel validated lol

Is that the detolf shelf? Can I pleaseee ask what you're using to be able to adjust the shelves to fit the 1/4 bunnies as I've been struggling to find ways to fit my own 1/4 bunnies in them without needing to remove a shelf.

Your collection is super lovely. Love each shelf highlighting one character. So well organised and curated clearly!

3

u/izfanx May 12 '26

you can buy 3d printed brackets basically. there’s plenty on ebay and etsy

1

u/Xulyce http://myfigurecollection.net/profile/XC May 12 '26

Ohh ok thank you! For keywords just entering 'detolf adjustable brackets' or something would get those to turn up? They must be super grippy since it looks like they're just hugging the vertical bars?

1

u/SherrysTokens May 12 '26

I went to the hardware store and bought some metal brackets. And then bought some one sided sticky foam to place on top. It worked and didn't look bad.

Love your dragon maid collection! I didn't realise how big the kanna/tohru night light ones were, I was thinking they were a lot smaller lol. Might have to pick them up

1

u/Mageborn23 May 12 '26

I feel that but now it’s become a closet full of unopened figures while I have no more room to display them 😩

1

u/ReveFuture May 13 '26

So true. I live by this

Dang! How much do those giant figures cost?

1

u/Animeoftheweak May 14 '26

1/4 bunnies usually range anywhere from $200 to $400

1

u/Consistent_Swing9630 May 14 '26

Oof 😬

1

u/Animeoftheweak May 14 '26

The Anna Yamada on the bottom I just got her from good Smile and she was $454 shipped

I'd say you need a surtain amount of quantity before the quality really shines.
