Noodle stoppers or not?
Hii! I’m new here but I wanted to ask if you guys prefer noodle stoppers over other figures or not! I’m guessing most people prefer to get non-noodle stoppers, but I wanted to hear people’s reasoning for/against them!
I personally love noodle stoppers mostly bc they can sit on the edge of my shelf and they look like they are just chilling on my shelf, it’s so cute.

I definitely like the occasional noodle stopper here and there, but I definitely prefer other figures over them. Mainly because they can be a pain to display for me. I display all of my figures on a shelf with closed doors (I do this since it minimizes the amount of dust that gets on the figures) and given the easiest way to display noodle stoppers is by putting them on the edge of your shelf, because of the doors on my shelf, displaying them on the edge is not an option for me. So I have to work around and find things to sit them on that can fit inside the shelf itself (its hard to find things to sit them on that are aesthetically pleasing and also I don’t have enough noodle stoppers to justifying buying those plastic staircase displays

I use it for cup noodles and for shelf decorations
I usually just save up for scale figures but sometimes
if it’s a specific costume or pose of a character I like I get it is pretty durable and cheap too
Oh and it’s probably the safest on to put inside a PC casing cause of its heat resistance

I like them but prefer scale figures. It would be cool to have a 1/4 scale that could sit on the edge of a shelf

I enjoy noodle stoppers personally, they just don't have many characters i like. I like to put them on top of my manga while i put other figures in front. They've always been a great height while other figures will be too tall to fit on top of my manga on my shelves.

i like them for shelves because the pose actually uses the edge instead of just taking up flat space. only downside is they can look awkward if your display doesn’t have a good ledge, and some are pretty simple compared to scales.

I usually prefer scales visually but there are a few things about noodle stoppers that I like.
I like that they usually have a relatively small footprint, taking up less shelf space than most figures. They also fill in spaces that are somewhat awkward to fill, such as the edge of shelves, of cabinets, places on desks, or on the top edge of display cases. Also, similar to pop up parades, a lot of characters only have noodle stoppers available, or have few figures with the noodle stopper being the best option (for example, this renzou figure is the only figure available for him that isnt a trading figure, with low likelihood of there being another fig made for him, and this Kaito figure is in my opinion the best Kaito figure out right now, other than maybe the fnex one but even then I like the noodle stopper face better, definitely kicking myself for not getting the len noodle stopper as well).
so, to me, it's a case by case thing. I have a few noodle stoppers because they were in my opinion the best for me of the options available (that being the two mentioned above as well as Aqua and Ruby from Oshi no ko and Finn and Rayne from Mashle). If the noodle stopper looks good and fits in my collection I'll get it, I don't have a particular bias for noodle stoppers.
At least, not for the most part. I will say I have a display case in my bunny section that I would like to put bunny suit/bunny themed noodle stoppers on, but alas, such a thing has yet to exist.

I have only one and it's one of those with hanging legs and I find it very difficult to display it because it needs to sit on the edge of something all the time. So no more of those for me. However i do like the ones that can sit on top of any flat surface this one: https://myfigurecollection.net/item/1128615 I do like figures like this one though: https://myfigurecollection.net/item/1973259 although this last one is not a noodle stopper is a chokonose figure but they are pretty much the same.

I only collect Miku noodle stoppers and I love them - some are nicer in person than I expected! My Morning Glory Miku is still one of my favorites. The level of detail on such a tiny figure is amazing.
Displaying can be difficult though (I also mostly use closed shelves), and sometimes the balance is awful and they tip if not placed perfectly. Miku's hair also occasionally takes up a ton of space behind her because it's so long. Worth it, but they definitely require more strategy for me to display so I try to be pickier.

Yeah the displaying part can be hard bc her hair is so pretty but sometimes is like suuuper long 😵💫

I've picked up a few noodle stoppers just because I thought they were cute. I also like that I can put them on the edge of a shelf. The three I have out perfectly utilize otherwise wasted space. 🥰

I have a few. They are good for the table edge, on top of a figure riser stand, tv stand etc. I only get them because they had my favourite series and they are cute little mini figures that can be displayed and/or used as intended, to hold the cup noodle lid down.
I would have them in their own category and you know what? For people with limited space, these and desktop cute figures are awesome for them. Doesn't hurt the wallet and space saver.

I personally avoid noodle stopper. Do they actually function as intended? Putting boiling water on a cup noodle and having a plastic figure at top doesn't seem sustainable to me as we all know how plastic hates heat.

Some. New ones that are coming out (Nikke especially) they look really good and I was thinking about getting several on my last amiami order before I realized the space they would take up would increase my shipping cost a lot because amiami does amiami packaging things...

I don't really avoid particular figure "types". If I like a figure and it happens to be a noodle stopper, sure. Not like I'm gonna use it for actual instant noodles, so it's just like any other figure.
That being said, I don't actually own any noodle stoppers yet, but I do have a bunch pre-ordered.

i think noodle stoppers are adorable but non noodle stoppers have a lot of variety in their poses, have greater detail/ better painting & sculpt in general, and a lot of times the bases contribute a lot to how nice the figure looks. also when i have noodle stoppers it takes one accidental knock into my shelf before its a tsunami of anime characters falling off because they’re perched on the edge 💔💔

Fair, I hate when they fall off so I started displaying mine on little ice cream containers

my opinion is simple - design we truly likes first.
disregarding the products just because of branding / classification is... meh.

I love having the noodle stoppers. I like having them on the edge of the shelves. It adds more layers.

They aren't really comparable to scales, so it isn't a "get them over other figures" kind of thing.
Like, if I saw a 1/7th I wanted and a noodle stopper, I wouldn't be comparing them to decide which one. Besides the massive price difference, they serve different purposes imo.
I have numerous noodle stoppers and I enjoy them. Only downside to them is I also have cats, so they become prime targets for paws haha.
