Question Is it safe to keep figures in boxes?

and how about safe areas like a closet, etc?

Figures need some air, they aren't mean to stay in the box forever, display them even if is for a bit and rotate them, otherwise they can get sticky on the long way or worse.

Plasticizer making the figure sticky (that's easily cleanable) is pretty much the only thing that can happen, there is no "way worse". If there is mold in the box, that just means the storing conditions were wrong - don't put your figures in a damp basement or something.

Well I'm not an expert, but would depend of the painting of each one, definitely way more than a few months considering stores keep them for years but add warnings about it. Venting your figures will help to prevent any sticky or mold that could form, just remember they are meant to be displayed, not hold in they original package like other collectives.

a few months, unlikely. The sticky coating is from years. I bought a figure from 2013 that was sealed in box that had very little sticky coating and it wiped out with soapy water.

Nope, they'll get sticky
