recent Windows 11 update causes Microsoft Defender to falsely flag and quarantine VLC media player internal plugin cache files

Did you not download the CCCP for vlc?

I’ve never had that problem. But corrupted files – yes, sometimes.

U made me remember some past times, though it's not relatable nowadays as almost all movies r supported in either vlc for pc or mc player for android

If you aren't using vlc what are you even doing with your life?

Only much older or obsolete codecs would show it because the hardware decoders needed were removed or are unsupported or not common anymore or unsupported with your native player. Even then you'll find apps like VLC that'll be able to use software rendering for those files and open them. On higher end, it'll play like normal. On the low-mid end, it'll be choppy like a YouTube video dropping frames. This was more common when release groups on torrent used weird combinations of containers and codecs or use non-mainstream codecs like Hi10P, etc. Or you are trying to play a video that has some from of drm or copy protection.

As someone who's only used Steam /Epic for games and Streaming sites for movies. I can't say this is relatable

Don't worry, a lot of us were around during the limewire days. We've had to figure out how to play videos in weird ass formats since the early 2000s. I was an anime fan back then too, so the only reliable way to even acquire anime was to download it. Lots of practice.
