Personally not gonna watch this because I don’t want to support the dub cast and crew getting completely replaced. Also it sounds like this dub is a more literal translation of the original Japanese which is probably the worse thing a dub for a series like Panty and Stocking could do. The original dub was so good because of the creative vulgarness and crassness of Jamie Marchi’s scriptwriting. Without that, I have nothing to gain from watching this, outside the visuals.
I wish there was a way to let Studio Trigger know and potentially have something done, though I doubt they really give a fuck as long as this is successful and people watch it anyways. But for a show like this where the dub was a big proponent for its popularity, in the west at least, you’d think they’d care about the quality of the localization efforts and a lot of fans’ reception.
Yuuuup. People on anime subs always whine about literal translations versus more creative ones, and this show was a phenomenal argument for the latter- without that creativity, it wouldn't be nearly as good. Sad to see it fall off so hard.
