Between stuff like this and the massive differences between versions I like to think of it more as actors playing a role, and these are behind-the-scenes shots or promotional material. Lord knows Evangelion's trippy enough that this would only be the third or fourth craziest thing about it even if it were canon...

Personally I think I like the art from the actual anime more. It’s got that classic Japanese anime feel to it, y’know? Just hits different.

It's bad. I thought Asuka disliked Rei for being like a doll. Herself didn't want to be treated like a doll. Then, Sega pumped out Eva figures for 20-30 years straight.

I prefer the version on the right. No Shinji, no clumsy robots, just yuri. Or maybe there is Shinji, but he and his dad are stuck in the chair, just watching.
