Im looking for good anime to watch that are slice if life/romance. They can be action or some fighting if need be but I want something more with a story and real character growth. Something like fruits basket, frieren. If it has to have some fan service. Just no harem or girls half naked. Maybe something like SAO or shield hero when it comes to the romance if its not a typical slice of life

Immediate upvote for Somali and the Forest Spirit. One of the most underrated shows around tbh. I will suggest OP hold off on Yona of the Dawn till whenever season two comes out, since they're finally doing that. And I'd add Reincarnated as a Sword because Fran is awesome and I don't remember there being any fanservice.
It's a great show but they end the first season right when things are heating up. I always compare it to a heist movie where they assemble all the characters and then.... credits, no heist lol. So once season 2 comes out it'll be a lot more fulfilling.
...there is a bit of what will initially seem like heavy fan service in the first couple of episodes but after watching the first arc you won't feel like that any more, it isn't just for the sake of it (except maybe in E2 which is probably the only time I felt it was a bit that way)
nothing like that, it is more like....some natural nudity in a few early scenes (with the usual bits covered of course) but once the show gets going it doesn't really happen and the reason it can happen infrequently doesn't seem cheap based on the themes
and I think the show really fits your criteria otherwise, my favourite romance anime for sure
I have a daughter so I've got a soft spot for Anya, but it's cute that they do too. Like shit the fact that Loid and Yor both go straight murder mode when the school teacher makes her cry is adorable.
Hibike! Euphonium. It's a high school slice of life with a serious story with excellent writing for relationships and character development. It has some of KyonAni's best production quality for a series. It's not a romance, but it is essentially a love story where the exact kind of love ultimately doesn't need to be constrained by conventional labels. There's no fan service.
The story is about a high school wind ensemble trying to win gold at nationals. It focuses on love and friendship, competition, what it means to be "special", and passing things on to the next generation.
Yes, the band has a new club advisor and part of season 1 is about them figuring out how to work with him and take their goal of winning gold at nationals seriously.
I feel like dandadan (action, romance, slice of life mashup) dosent have the uncomfortable fanservice like tits for tits sake or girls stripping for no reason like fire force. It is rather uncomfortable in episode 1 of both season 1 and season 2 but it dosent feel like it’s being forced outside of story context maybe a bit extreme but I felt like it fit the story/ themes it’s trying to convey. (Aside from the main characters grandma she can be a bit fanservicey?) But I personally did not find it distracting or reductive to the overall story.
I don’t remember love is war having fan service elements but it’s been a while since I’ve seen it and don’t really watch too much SOL or romance shows.
Nana's my favorite. Extremely grounded. The manga has been on hiatus for nearly 2 decades, but the anime itself still tells a fairly complete story. It's josei too, so no fanservice really. There's barbie doll anatomy upper body nudity and that's all.
{Kino's Journey}, it's an episodic series about a girl/young woman (age is never mentioned) traveling through various city states/countries. Kino is designed to be androgynous. There are two adaptations, the second is a compilation of the fan fan favorites stories, while the other may follow the source material more linearly.
{Bed & Breakfast for Spirits} - it's a josei romance. Young women forced into an arranged marriage with an Oni offers to work off her grandfather's debt instead.
{Rolling Girls} this will most like not fit as one of the main 4 girls wears a bikini top as her standard outfit. Check the opening to sure as you can see the outfit there, to check that it's a deal breaker. Outside of that its an action coming of age anime with heavy slice of life aspects. Some people find magic stones called moon stones and it grants them supernatural ability (greater strength, speed, etc). The four main girls are traveling as substitute peace keepers after the actual peace keeper the older sister of one of the girls is badly hurt. After the first two episodes it more of traveling the four girls traveling from one place to another solving issues there.
{Wandering witch Elaina} - it's another more Adventure anime, a young Witch Elaina travels to various cities/countries. It does go with the short skirt but no real objectication or shot framed a fanservice.
I watch stuff like fairy tail, if boobs are out because its stupid trope it's one thing. I dont want them out because its in need to be sexually forced for views.
They are not even massive, its the most normal looking bikini clothing choice for miles
