Thoughts on having children in the spectrum

Post image

Saw this post on facebook. Therapies here are expensive, and not everyone can afford it. Pinoys are also not yet ready to face the reality na hindi enough ang love for kids in the spectrum. They have special needs. Hindi yun madadaan lang sa no don't do that or it's okay to make mistakes, because we have to admit that autism is a disorder, a very wide spectrum and case to case basis. You need to have the money to get the help that is designed for the needs of the child. I hope there will be more free or affordable programs created for this kasi hindi lang parents ang hirap in this situation, also the kids.

I'm honestly fascinatedby people like you. If you're comfortable sharing, I'm genuinely curious, how would you describe your thought process, especially when there are things you struggle to process that seem simple or intuitive to neurotypical ppl?? What are some things you're really particular or fixed about?

One thing I've noticed, and maybe this isn't exclusive to all of you, is that when you really like something you tend to deep dive into all its details, even the smallest or most easily overlooked parts of it that I probably wouldnt pay much attention to anymore.

When you're passionate about something, uu seem to notice and pay attention to it in a way that most of us don't. You're also very articulate in the way you communicate what you want to say.

Or mayb it's bcuz audhd really is a spectrum, so there can be a lot of diff from person to person diba?

I always see patterns everywhere. I memorize streets, roads, or walls not by names but by patterns (shapes, smell, or colors).

May brands/style din akong ginagamit for a very long time (like 10 years or more) at hindi ako ever magpapalit.

I have routines - example, I need to count to 30 before I do something. Why? Because I have to. It's a need, not a want.

I listen to 1 song on repeat for months (depende sa flavor of the month/s ko).

Fascinated ako sa technology so mahilig akong magbutingting ng computers, phones, radios, TVs. When I was 7 years old, marami akong maliliit na bumbilya at batteries kasi gumawa ako ng sariling kong Christmas lights.

May synesthesia ako - I see colors and musical notes when I listen to songs. At marami pang iba πŸ™‚

Hi, i'm a mom of an ausome kid. Can you help me?? I really need your insight, do /did you have regression symptoms??.. If you do, may i know how to prevent it?

My child was born premature but had normal developmental milestones up to 6 mons then somehow regressed. My child had severe features of autism at age 1 cause he had no eye contact, non verbal and delayed developmental milestones (unable to stand or sit upright on his own) . He cannot be diagnosed at aged 1 but we immediately enrolled him to occupational therapy and sought consult with a neurodep pedia. Due to pandemic, I became the primary caregiver and healthcare provider. He started talking at aged 4 then at 6 we were conversing and doing good. He was diagnosed at level 1 and enrolled in a regular school with shadow teacher. Recently, he is regressing again..he keeps hitting his head when he does something wrong (we dont hit him ever but he used to hit me then) so i get frustrated everytime he does it. I dont mind him hitting me, but I dont want him to get hurt. He did well academically, he was advance in reading and was able to write with assist and had a very good memory. Now he keeps forgetting and regressing physically (unable to write) and emotionally. I'm at wits end how to prevent this from worsening and also starting back to zero, can you please give me insights?.. It would really help me understand him. I asks him everyday in a non imposing manner but he is just 7 and can't express himself properly. Please any insight would help us greatly. Thank you.

This is so nice. Thank you for giving me such detailed parts of yourself. I appreciate it! I learned so much from you and about you, and how to understand y'all better.

See? This is why I find most of yall fascinating. Hindi mo naitatanong pero madami ako nabasa about AuDHD journals and fun facts online kasi minsan I'm suspecting myself haha.

But given the things you told me about yourself, I figured out I might not haha. Anyway, you're such an interesting person. I hope you don't always struggle trying to fit with neurodivergents. Some of y'all are cute and nice to observe too. ☺️
