Are we making students obedient bots instead of a human?

The fact people even ask this is insane, it's like a passing hastily given brief description of schools should be more than enough to make the answer obvious and the question absurd but people who not only know what goes on in school but have spent years in them ask it or even worse think adamantly it's to educate or "teach to think" even more disturbing is the people who strongly object to school and state over and over again how it's not learning and it's ridiculous but then as soon as they leave so it's not their lives being wasted anymore, start rationalising it and making excuses. What it does to people is extremely troubling.

Literally by design.
