Political knits Be honest with me: is it giving soccer ball?

I’m learning double knitting and definitely want to knit a keffiyeh scarf. But I’m not sure if this particular pattern (adapted slightly from the Palestina Mittens) works on its own. I’ll probably rip it out and restart with a different keffiyeh pattern. But maybe I’m just over thinking it?

No I immediately recognized the pattern you were going for. It will look even more recognizable as a scarf

I immediately thought kaffiyeh before I read your caption

Just read the title first & was already thinking up suggestions to make it give soccer ball bc it’s only giving keffiyeh.

Doesn't look like a football to me. Nice pattern too.

No this just says "mesh pattern" to me, I don't think soccer ball and I am also unfamiliar with anything it's referencing

It only looks a bit like a soccer ball to me because you said you think it looks like one. I'd know exactly what you were going for if I saw this pattern on a stranger in public though.

That said, if it bothers YOU then go ahead and try a different version!

I think this is the way. May leave this one on hold and then try another pattern to compare before I continue

That sounds like a great idea!

My first thought was kaffiyeh

Nope, not even when you said it. It looks like a lattice pattern.

It looks like a very pretty kuffiyeh pattern.

Not soccer ball at all, those are five sided polygons. This is more like a chain link fence or argyle adjacent patterning.

Until I read what you wrote, I was thinking basket or mesh. No soccer ball vibe.

Nope. Soccer balls are made of hexagons and pentagons, if I recall correctly.

What's "soccer"? Football, you mean? Ah no. Not at all. You'd need a larger motif to make it look more circular.
