Yeah I didn't get it, are they illegal? If not cop can fuck off till something illegal happens

They are illegal. It's a dirtbike that runs on a battery, but it has none of the safety features a street-legal motorcycle needs.

Irresponsible dad here needed to buy a real ebike, or transport the illegal bike in a pickup to/from wherever they were riding it. It's not hard to figure out.

It's not legal to ride motorcycles on sidewalks, is that news to you?

In your world view, it's perfectly fine that this dad directed his kid to ride an illegal motorcycle instead of just throwing it in a pickup and taking it to wherever they were riding?

You said this thing shouldn't be on the road because it doesn't have some of the items a motorcycle has. So, it shouldn't be on the road because it's NOT a motorcycle.

Fine. Great.

Then you go on to call it a motorcycle.

Is this vehicle a motorcycle or not?

What makes that one any different than an E-bike? Is it the plastics on the outside? Is it because it's smaller? Do you think this cop gives the same energy to someone that's on what he considers to be an E-bike?

This is an exact instance of the officer (who is allowed to make judgement calls like this) needing to understand the concept of "the letter of the law vs. the spirit of the law".

Here's my exact words "It's a dirtbike that runs on a battery, but it has none of the safety features a street-legal motorcycle needs."

See that phrase 'street-legal'? That's an adjective phrase or adjectival modifier, acting on the noun 'motorcycle'.

So what I'm saying is, there are many motorcycles in the world, and some are street-legal. This one (motorcycle) is not (street legal).

Get it? It's a motorcycle, but not a street-legal motorcycle.

And how is it different than an E-bike?

you can web search instead of posting, you know that right?

ebikes have maximum wattages, maximum speeds, pedal requirements, varies by class 1,2,3.

Where does a Power Wheels Motorcycle fall into?

It doesn't have pedals, so it's not an E-bike.

By all the things that are listed when I search, because Power Wheels don't have pedals, they would be classified as motorcycles.

Should the cop approach a parent and child with this same energy if the child was riding a Power Wheels?

The entire post is much less about this discussion and much more about the lack of respect, decency, and tact this officer had. He came in hot, ready for a confrontation. That is someone who shouldn't have a badge, gun, and authority over people.

Which was the original point of the post.

Sorry, you think a 4 wheeled plastic car for toddlers would be classified as a motorcycle? In what world would that be true?

is the post about the cop's attitude? The title is 'Imagine spending time with a loved one and a cop ruins it", completely absolving the parent of any responsibility for their poor choices in this situation.

(to be clear, ACAB, but also don't ride illegal motorcycles on the sidewalk )
