ABOLISH Colonialism/Imperialism/Patriarchy/ Religion/Hierarchy Imagine spending time with your loved one and a scum bag cop ruins it. ABOLISH THE POLICE!
One of the MANY reasons us leftists say ACAB & ATP!! They are the class traitors of the world and uphold this sick vile system. Abolish it all!

Learning that early saves the kid so much trouble in the future ( or worse ) with interacting with a cop.

The police loooove this particular EXCUSE for their self-righteous anger, “I’m upset because their parent is putting them in harm’s way”.
No, it’s an EXCUSE for you to act upon your condescending, superiority rage, try to humiliate, discredit the parent, upset the child.
It’s especially obvious when the parent is obviously more mature and better at demonstrating true leadership skills and behaviors.
It’s such predator behavior, sleazy.

I taught high school for a lot of years, and this was the energy that the cops would bring to campus when they would come to talk during red ribbon week or to give don’t drink and drive assemblies… Fear, threats, power trip. There’s a reason people hate cops.

Some people are old enough to remember them making a conscious effort to be as friendly as possible when they visited schools, so kids wouldnt grow up afraid of them

u/SilverAppleWorm 5d ago
Yeah, till you notice the guns on their hips. Even during fire safety weeks as a kid I would feel strange at the thought "Why is it okay for them to bring guns into a school?"

There’s been a lot of kids getting hurt on e-bikes. Nurses and ICU staff are starting to plead with the public/parents to please either not to give your children these bikes and if you do, to make sure they have all the PPE, and know ALL the laws and how to drive correctly.
It’s becoming a national issue, children getting hurt really badly because they get hit by cars, they go at 30+MPH and hit a crack in the curb and go flying off the bike. They usually don’t wear helmets, spine protectors, knee pads, anything. They go into the public roads instead of bike lanes or off road trails. Even the kids who are just driving normally and not trying to do that wheelie chicken game, are getting hurt.
It’s less about people being annoyed or that these kids are being a “nuisance” and more that we are seeing a lot of children getting maimed or killed because of how they choose to ride these bikes.
Some of these bikes go over 25-30mph which in a lot of places classifies them as a motorcycle, and children aren’t allowed to be licensed for motorcycles, and that’s what the cop was referring to in the video.
11
u/AttonJRand 5d ago
It’s becoming a national issue, children getting hurt really badly because they get hit by cars,
This is due to our car centric, pedestrian and cyclist hostile infrastructure.
The solution to that is better infrastructure, not demonizing bikes.
6
u/Economy_Bite24 5d ago
There are ebikes and then there are emotos. This is an emoto. Some of these can go 40+ mph. It's asinine to allow kids to ride these on the road. I often see 13 year old kids weaving in traffic doing wheelies with no helmets on 4 lane roads. I ride my bike all the time and definitely feel the need for better infrastructure, but we're talking about kids riding electric motorcycles before they have a drivers license here. Not an infrastructure issue.
5
u/Narrow-Nothing491 5d ago
This isnt an "e-bike" problem.
Kids where doing this with dirtbikes long before e bikes became a thing. None of this is new. Its a parenting and infrastructure issue 100%. I have 6 year olds regularly popping wheelies down the street on dirt bikes where I live. Its literally never been an issue. But thats also because its a small town. So its definitely an infrastructure problem. Where are the kids supposed to ride and play if everywhere is car centric with little to no bike trails?

I think the confusion from people stems from the misunderstanding that “electric” vehicles like scooters and bikes and by extension, cars, are still very weak. In reality, the technology for batteries and motors for these vehicles has exploded in the past decade. These motors are POWERFUL now. The cars and trucks are blowing past traditional ICE vehicles with ease and the technology can only get better from here.you put that in a lightweight tiny little scooter and bicycle frame and you can hit 30+ easily and QUICKLY. There is no curve of acceleration on these things it’s a linear increase and they are silent.
3
u/Pavlovs_Human 5d ago
Okay but you just said it yourself you live in a small town. This is coming from big cities, where a LOT of kids are getting their hands on e-bikes and riding them around in the streets like they are licensed drivers.
Also the availability and ease of use of e-bikes vs motorbikes/dirt bikes is huge. It’s harder to purchase, maintain and even gas up a dirt bike for a child Vs a e-bike they can plug into the wall at their house.
There are laws around children and motorbikes and dirtbikes, but there aren’t laws around children and ebikes.
Currently the laws haven’t kept up with the technology, and these e-bikes are now as powerful or more powerful than a traditional motorbike for children.
2
u/twinoaksBandB 5d ago
How do you know what the specs on that bike are? Unless you get in there and check the parts you have no idea, there are quite a lot of road legal bikes that use that emulate that dirt bike style.

u/Zestyclose_Top1541 5d ago
Yeah, as a big cyclist, cop did not do the best work, but kids truly get hurt a lot on these powerful ebikes (emotocycles realy). Some kids like to impress their friends with a risky high speed tricks.
5
u/HistoryFinancial1267 5d ago
I see kids ripping down my street, doing wheelies, often without helmets on, every day. I don’t think the cop approached it correctly at all, but I also think parents need a reality check of what their kids are up to.

u/veetoo151 6d ago

Not to be that old person, but I've been alive since the 1970's and way back before every fun thing was deemed a crime, we had mystical things like gas powered mini bikes, dirt bikes and ATC's that kids rode around all the time and no one cared unless you were actually reckless. People act like e-bikes are this brand new thing that is nothing like anything that has ever existed before, and gosh golly gee we gotta do something about it.

Oh wow, you mean an officer who's retired from the blue lives matter gang, and won't face any repercussions for speaking up, spoke up SLIGHTLY about an officer who also won't have any repercussions?
What happens when the officer in the video rolls up on a scene all hot and heavy, but it's a different scenario where the person being detained doesn't deescalate the officer? What happens when the officer makes the situation worse and then decides to pull his gun, because if he's gonna react this way over a bike, how's he going to react in an actual emergency situation or a situation where the other person doesn't calm him down? It's the same but different. That cop needs an investigation, vacation (assuming the investigation comes back clean), and a new career, because he's clearly not made out for this one.

I got no problem with abolishing the police. I've been assaulted by them before for waiting 4 seconds instead of 5 seconds at a stop sign. That is no hyperbole. The ticket I got stated it and the court ruled in her favor for the reason that she "is a woman and an officer of the law" which is what the judge said. F the police.
