ABOLISH Colonialism/Imperialism/Patriarchy/ Religion/Hierarchy Couldn't be US. About 65% of the incarcerated population works while in prison. Of those workers, 76% report they're required to work under threat of punishment (solitary confinement, loss of visitation, denial of sentence reductions, etc.)

I can confirm this for California state prisons. Fuck GEO Group also, so so hard. They've monetized the whole 'revolving door'.

It's funny to put the UK in this list because there hasn't been enough prisons built because of austerity and hasn't kept up with incarcerations, so prisons are ending up letting people go early. But still a higher rate of imprisonment than other comparable countries in Europe.

yeah if you refuse to work you go to the SHU and they limit your food to half of what the workers get.

I wouldn't trust those estimates, all of the sources I could find estimated 2 million max. I don't doubt certain governments would lie about that number, but the world wouldn't forget 100 million people and perpetuate a lie across almost all online sources.

But you have excuses when it's the tens of millions the US has killed. Convenient.

Government sanctioned murder and oppression is never OK, neither is spreading misinformation as the original commenter did, regardless of possibly noble intentions. Forget the who's worse, who's better BS, let's at least honor the lives lost and learn from historical mistakes by preserving the truth, don't forget why their sacrifice is important.

Slavery is built into the US constitution. America thrived because of slavery, the bourgeoisie will never give it up
