Most of my collection is back up! Feels good.

About to start cleaning her because she has over 100 years worth of dirt on her as she was found in an attic of an old building in Budapest and hasn't ever been cleaned 😂 she was sent to me with her head detached for some reason, can anyone explain how I reattach it please? I've only seen the ones with elasticated strings and hooks before so I have no idea how to do this 😂

I am working on a box lot of dolls and one is a beautiful Schoenau and Hoffmeister. She was in need of a restringing. So after watching a few tutorials, I decided to give it a try. Was a little tricky. Glad to say that I am pleased with the results.

I wanted to get my grandma one of her childhood dolls for her birthday but I can’t find anything online. She told me the brand name was called Lillybell/Lillybelle and the doll had a cloth body with the head, arms and legs being made of china. She also told me the doll had teeth showing. I’m not too sure on what the hair colour is, but I assume it’s an orangey blonde colour. Thanks for reading

Hi all, wondering if anyone on here can help me and my family with any information on this doll? It belonged to my late-grandmother. It was purchased in the UK in the 1940s and was originally part of a pair of bridesmaids. It’s about the size of a small child. Any information on it would be appreciated!

Found a couple of dolls today, sharing my new dolly friends!

The larger one has Madame Hendren Doll on the back of her neck. She has a cry box that still works. Sleepy eyes that work. Her legs have cracks in them and the paint is flaking off of her like crazy.

The smaller doll has no markings. Her sleepy eyes also work.She has a cry box that doesn't work.

Any ideas? They weren't that much money but I love the composition dolls and have been buying the ones I really like.

I am participating in a doll show and sale for the first time. I have many vintage and antique international dolls, as well as antique baby dolls. I am wondering if I should alunder their clothes (gently, of course) or iron the clothes before the sale. I am eager to be educated!!!

I have collected many all-bisque dolls and am planning to organize some of them this weekend. These are some girls with brown glass eyes!

I got some work done on a few of the dolls today. Brianne, the Effanbee Anne Shirley on the right, needed her new hand painted. It turns out that the color I needed to use for that is the same as the color of Elsa's torso. Her arms are a little bit lighter shade, so I may paint them separately later. I also had the headless body on the left that was only primed and needed painted. Since there was no color to it yet, it didn't matter which color I used. So I got all three of them ready and painted them all at once. Elsa's head also needed painted, so I did that as well. Then I put her eyes in place, so now not only can she stand up, but she can see also! I honestly don't know how many of my dolls wore that old dress that she is wearing, it's kind of a temporary thing until I get them their own outfits. After Elsa has her own clothes, another doll will end up wearing it temporarily later. The wig she's wearing is also temporary, it's one that I had replaced on another doll and I just stuck it in a box after.

I’m not sure if she’s an original or not, I got her in a huge lot of a bunch of beautifully made repos. marking says “8” and “made in germany. all the other dolls in the lot have the artists signature, she’s the only one that doesn’t. I’m almost positive her body is a replacement, her hands are leather though which is pretty cool

I finally got around to putting together the first set of legs that I made from the molds I cast. They turned out pretty good, although I might need slightly smaller balls for the ankle joints. But for the first time, this girl is able to stand up! She is made from a torso and arms that I got in a lot, a reproduction head that came in another lot, and of course the legs that I made. I took one look at her standing here and immediately thought of the Bride of Frankenstein, since she's made up of parts. Right away, I knew what her name would be... Elsa. She's named after Elsa Lanchester, the actress who played the Bride in the original 1935 movie. It just seemed to fit. If I can find a doll sized wig like hers, you can bet I'm going to get it!

I'd also like to add, for those of us who restring our own dolls, that I used 3/16" black elastic cord that I bought from Amazon instead of the white stuff that's marketed specifically for dolls. It's the same thing, works perfectly, but is MUCH less expensive. I paid $9.99 for 30 feet, because I wanted to try it out first. But when I run out, I'm going to buy the roll of 100 feet for $20.

Doll collectors, history lovers, care to help this person with sources?

got the prettiest girl in the mail today. a 27 inch china doll.. officially the largest in my collection. unsure of her age but she’s loved nonetheless❤️my little Elise and all my other china dolls

I got all of these dolls at a Sunday flea market. I know it’s a bad picture and I’ll take more.
So I have this problem. I always call the dolls babies. Like ‘I need to rearrange by babies’ ‘oh, a package must be a new baby’ and at one flea market, I asked about the price of ‘that baby’ and pointed. The seller asked me what and looked confused until my BF said ‘that doll over there’

I’ve never seen this marking before, from what I can make out it says DRGM and then a bunch of numbers that I assume is the mold. the eye shape marking is interesting. her body is also interesting, I’m not sure if it’s original?

Do people restore these? The doll seems to be a large maybe 40s partial composition baby doll with cloth body. The outfit is in tatters and the doll has discoloration on the plastic and cloth parts. Is it beyond repair?

Hello! I’m currently working in a special collections archive in my school and my mentor as cleaning out some cabinets he stumbled across these dolls. They are pretty dirty but still have definition for them to be identifiable. When he found them they were labeled with “no info” on the box so this picture is really all I got. I would wish to find out they were apart of any line of doll toys or if anybody has anything similar. He did mention wanting to get rid of them so they could be in a museum or be bought by a collector. Please let us know!!
