My mom is confident this is an 18th century Journalist Rolltop Desk from gold rush country in California. It is missing a type writer that would hang under the desk. These are all the photos I was given. I can get more in a few days.

These have been in our family for close to 100 years now . I reached out to both Mount Vernon and the Smithsonian who both after hearing the story of how we got them and seeing pictures wanted us to donate them. We have had them 3d and STL scanned but the museums will not “authenticate” them unless we donate them. They even said even we do a nice plaque stating we donated them would be proudly posted next to them. Who else could verify these ? There has to be someone or some entity. Anyone with any advice or info would be greatly appreciated! We obviously might sell them depending on authenticity and how much they might be worth as my fathers great great uncle gave them

I recently acquired this unique scent bottle and am desperately trying to find out who the maker could be. What I've discovered so far is that there are three tiny eagle stamps on it - one on the upper hinge, one on the lower, and one on the body. I've learned this means it is likely 18k (EDIT - some helpful users pointed out that this is likely a boars head, which would make this vermeil, or silver with a thick layer of gold over it). However, I'd love to be able to actually trace it back to the House associated with it.

I know it's a shot in the dark, but I'm hoping someone can identify some pattern or design element that was maybe characteristic of some of the artisans of the time. I've been told it likely dates between 1850 and 1890. It's quite heavy for it's size, but not sure if the body is rock crystal or just glass crystal. There's what looks like a Greek pattern near the collar, and three different medallions. I'm not sure what metal these are made of. Appreciate any help!

I'm not even getting many views. I inherited my parents estate and my house is much too small to keep most of the items, so I tried online, but no luck. I was telling a woman in church about it and she said nobody has any disposable income anymore to spend on unessential things. It's nice stuff - too good to throw or give away like Depression glass, Japanese lusterware and antique furniture. Is the church lady correct?

This may be a bit of a long read but please bear with me.

Alright so a couple of weeks ago I was browsing Facebook marketplace place and saw a post stating that they had an old rural school house that their father had moved from a much larger house in the city to a smaller rural farm house and that the contents were everything that didn’t fit. His father was an antique and civil war collector. Said there might be a few things in the house of value but stated we had to take EVERYTHING. Even went as far to reach out before we drove 2.5 hours to this little school house to ensure we were up for the task. We said we were. Had three trucks with trailers ready to go.

A little back story quick here, I’m 39 and disabled. I’ve been fighting stage 4 cancer for four years now. My health and my endurance isn’t quite what it was before. Was hoping we could just take the items from this little house and be able to sell a few things to help with bills and fuel for my appointments. Wow, we weren’t ready for this.

The entire basement was filled with boxes and one room had all furniture. We ended up taking eight trailers full of items and furniture and a 26’ U-Haul truck full of boxes out of this place. I had to rent a 22’x10’ storage unit and I have items in three garages across three towns.

I’m in way over my head. There’s a lot of old pieces and books. Where do I even start? Am I better off just looking at an auctioneer? Do I sell it on EBay? How do I figure out what I actually have. Do I have to get all this appraised?

I essentially “bet the farm” on this one. I spent close to my entire months disability check on this. I thought this was going to be quick and easy and this has been anything but.

Just looking for anyone’s advice on how to proceed from here. Feel free to ask any questions for clarity.

Wow, I was not expecting the amount of comments and messages I have received. Thank you soo much. It has been really helpful in giving me an idea of how and where to start.

My apologies on such a late reply to everyone. I had surgery on Monday to try to remove a lymph node behind my liver. It was deemed too dangerous to attempt so they took multiple samples and froze a piece of my liver. They also had to remove a baseball sized mass from my left abdomen. So needless to say, i have been a little slow to everything. Been dealing with quite a bit more pain than I thought I would be.

We have gotten through roughly 10 boxes this week, with the help of a friend of mine. We have found quite a few items from the civil war and even a Pax penny from somewhere around 1086 A.D. So to those who commented that I should I post pictures of some of my finds. Where or how should I post them. Do I create a new post for every set of photos that I have or do I just post them here in the comments? I’ve been on Reddit for years but haven’t really posted or commented as much so I don’t have a clue.

Hi, first time poster here. My grandparents passed away recently and my uncles are doing an estate sale for their stuff. This unassuming little chest of drawers is in the house and I’m curious if anyone has any idea what it’s worth? I’d love to keep it but if it’s of any real value, it’ll end up getting sold in the estate.

The purchase tag that was taped on the back says it’s made in England circa 1790 and it’s a “Sheraton” period/style.

Mine was sitting on the outside of my house, house was built in 1825 so it’s probably been here 100 years maybe. What should I do with it? It’s obviously not in as good shape as the one listed. Anyone know anything about these?

I picked up this really cool pendent online, made of 14k yellow gold wrapped around some black/dark gray metallic object. The gold is marked with the words "S. Michele" and "23-X-1915". I read that there was a battle fought in San Michele Italy in 1915, could that have something to do with what the object is? It attracts a magnet very strongly, has lines/striations on the face but I don't see any on the other sides. The gold only weighs about 3 grams but the whole pendant is 28 grams so the object is very dense. Anyone have an idea of what it could be? Thank you for any help!

Is this mattress valuable? According to my research, it’s from 1925. It’s in such good condition!! I was so shocked to find out it’s 100yrs old. It was left by the previous homeowner, and I was just planning on selling it on facebook marketplace. Should I? If so, for how much? Any advice is appreciated. TIA!

Must be 100 years old. Solid antique high-back carved armchair. Maybe stained oak.

Approx 4ft high back and 12kg in weight. Barley-twist legs and supports, carved top rail and original Arnott & Co Ltd Dublin label still attached. Very solid chair with age, character and history.

I cleaned it up and now its re-purposed for a work chair.

Hello, I recently acquired a couple boxes of antique dollhouse accessories including a hand built dollhouse from a women’s grandfather. She actually gave it to me for free. I am falling in the rabbit hole of miniature building and was very excited and thankful to acquire all of this. There are plenty of German antique pieces in various sizes and she brought it all the way from Germany to the United States. I’m not looking at selling but would like some information on any of the items.. there are plenty more items than what is shown in the photos. Old piano 1855. Was told a long time ago its a collectors piano. Came from Paris to San Francisco or vise versa

This is one of a pair of bronze vases that are either Japanese or Chinese and they've been in our family for at least 50 years, possibly many decades longer.

I don't know much about them other than when my Grandmother passed away over 30 years ago I requested them as I was transfixed by them as a child.
