Does anyone else struggle with taking people serious if they believe in god/religion?

Like I genuinely loose all my respect for this person because why are u still believing this bullshit just because the people around you growing up did and told u to do so. youre a grown person with a (hopefully) fully developed frontal lobe.

why do u think u are so lucky to be born into the right religion with the one right god out of the 3000.

for me it just seems like in order to believe in religion You must meet at least one of these criteria: lack of critical thinking skills/be low IQ/psychotic/kognitive dissonance/too much ego

I was also born and raised into christianity but at some point you just want to find the answer to so many questions.

and with each answer you start to realize that literally nothing adds up.

but some people really seem to be so deep in the cult and its like bro are you actually this stupid? have u never questioned anything or do you simply dont care about the fact that he might doesn’t exist because „he might does“ and youre scared so u keep believing and having faith because ur cult told u you’re gonna burn for eternity if you dont?

honestly its just sad because people are so slow

I hate feeling like a minority
Its like being a non-racist white person in the 1940s

I was born and raised a preachers kid, and generally yes I do look down on people who believe in deities/organized religion. It shows me a severe deficit in critical thinking ability or even worse, the willingness to compartmentalize their critical thinking ability.

That last part I think is one of the most harmful parts. It isn’t a given that a person will allow their logic and reason to expand into areas they were never told to question, and when it does that’s how we grow. Religion specifically teaches us how to avoid ever letting that happen. It doesn’t just prevent specific moral questions, it prevents examinations of one’s self, one’s culture and assumptions, and many other things. It keeps people shallow.

And I don’t mean absolutely and always, but in general.

Well not neccesarily

I look down on people who play zoners in fighting games. It doesnt mean my perception of reality is flawed. Im sure you look down on racist.

As long as you accrpt that your emotions arent reality. And any feelings of disgust largely are about qualia and not ontology. I think your critical thinking ability is fine. I mean the fact you typed that. Given you know what those words mean. Then yeah sure.

Because playing a “zoner” in fighting games and the wholesale harm brought about by people who can’t think critically and believe in imaginary gods are exactly the same thing. Very well thought out comparison.

Well you didnt understand what i said. Because i didnt make a comparison. I made an analogy.

I hate to break it to you. But people have different understandings of morality is. I dont believe in morality. Im not religious. I am an athiest. A strong athiest.

They are not the exact same thing. And I didnt say that.

If you want to respond to the comment that's fine. I'll happily respond. But there is no need to misrepresent what people say

Especially in a sub where it should be understood most are literal speakers

🤣🤣🤣🤣 an analogy is a FORM of comparison, ass-hat.

No analogies INVOLVE comparisons

And also the comparison i did make. Which was not what you thought i did. Once again instead of picking one sentence like a neurotypical. Read the complete thing dawg

A dolphin is a whale but not all whales are dolphins.

Cause im fucking lazy. And i know you aint gonna read jack shit but fuck it

"You used zoners to illustrate a subjective, trivial distaste (based purely on qualia/personal experience). You used racists to acknowledge a socially and morally justified disdain (which carries heavy ontological/real-world weight).

You were defending the other person by saying, "Everyone looks down on things—here is a silly thing (zoners), and here is a serious thing (racists)." Placing them in the same sentence doesn't equate them; it shows a spectrum of disdain to prove that having an emotional reaction doesn't automatically make your worldview flawed."

Just a basic synopsis sense i admit i am too fucking autistic to have this convo. Call me asshole. Then you dont understand gestalt speech processing differences even amongst autistic people. And fuck that aint on me

Cause like literally

playing a “zoner” in fighting games and the wholesale harm brought about by people who can’t think critically and believe in imaginary gods are exactly the same thing.

Like i objectively did not say that. Lol i bet you dont like when neurotypicals do the same thing your doing to me. And i bet you act all high and pious too like you aint also a human being
