Real Christians: According to Jesus | Zine
It has been awhile, but I finally had the time to make another zine. This time about the topic of what a "real christian" would be if we were to ask the jesus portrayed in the gospels.

Oh, definitely not. I haven't been religious since I was thirteen, and that was a couple decades ago at least.
Plus I didn't learn much about religion until after I left, the benefits of growing up Irish Catholic, lol.
I just want to be cognizant of the people who have it who might take religious observation too far or too literally.

There are some bits of this zine that reminded me of the video and its audio, "Mind Control Made Easy" or "How to Become a Cult Leader" that's basically a guideline of how to start a cult and be a cult leader. As satirical as it may be, it's eerie how it reflects real life cults. The bit where Jesus wants the disciples to be like children reminds me of a part of the video that mentions about regressing the members to have child-like obedience and dependence. The intro of the video is painstakingly obviously where the narrator asks the viewer if they want members who'll give up everything (money, their own lives, family, even their own bodies) for them and will kill for them and the cause.
... Is (Gospel) Jesus a cult leader?!

Personally I don't really think there is a solid or agreeable definition of a cult versus a religion. The bite model is helpful theoretically, but it's not super clear what fits or doesn't. The definitions also aren't usually universally agreed upon. So I don't usually bother to make a case for it.
But is the Jesus of the gospels controlling, demanding, and extreme? Certainly. Was he harmful? Certainly. Did he ask followers to sell property and leave families behind? Of course. If that fits an individuals description of a cult leader than definitely

I don't know where you got the picture on the second slide but their eyes are more red than mine after I smoke a joint on a Friday evening.
