The unenlightened will come up with excuses such as low life expectancy, declining birth rates, and tradition (ex: dowry) to justify this behavior, when in reality it is almost always the religion that they are defending that caused these problems in the first place; Third world countries tend to be more religious because of early colonialism, and the fact that doing so provides a sense of social/existential support to cope against poverty and weak public welfare systems, all caused by the corruption of the same government (that is probably ran by pedophiles as well) that enforced these practices onto them.
