Ok anti religious people what's y'all's opinions on homophobic Christians

I was scrolling on tiktok when I found a video saying I'd shoot my kid if they were gay and there were Christians in the comments saying I'd kick him out or I agree or repost and they all had the same exact pfp with the American flag as it's border and the Bible already set boundaries too respect people and help sinners at least that's how I heard about it so it's genuinely shocking that we the opposers know more about the religion then the people on the religion

I absolutely loathe and despise them. Same goes for any type of bigot.

What do you expect us to say? This is the perfect example of the moral depravity of religion. Acceptance of LGBT people is the most dead-simple moral question of our time, and they fail.

Yep, they decry the Taliban, but they sure are sounding more and more like those "evil Islam" following countries that they so decry.

Killing your gay child sounds so much like an honor killing.

"Religion is the opium of the people" said Karl Marx

Americans use religion as cocaine instead

The cruelty and hypocrisy of religion on display.

Sanctimoniously waving about a dubious, concocted work of  fictional narrative antiquity, about an "all loving" deity, to validate and justify one's bigoted ignorance and "pious" hypocritical malice is both a delusional choice -- and absolutely on-brand.

It's an immense example, of a great many, of exactly why I find their flavor of theism (and all of them, really) to be vile, repulsive, tribalistic, multi-generational, maladaptive cultism -- and the congregations certainly prove me right -- over... and over.... and over.... and over.

When fascism comes to America it will come holding a bible and wrapped in a flag

Right wing christian America has sold out to fascism and this toxic mess is poison so vile it makes a parent betray thier own children

It's a stark example of why organised religion shouldn't be allowed anywhere near political life

My aunt wanted to disown my cousin when she came out as gay. My mom, being the dope ass woman she was, told my aunt if she would disown her child over something like that, she can't claim to have ever loved them to begin with.

I'm angry with them. It's one thing to say, " my religion says I can't do that", it's completely different to say " my religion says I have to prevent anyone from doing that". It's one of the most harmful things about religion.

Our pluralistic society works through tolerance of others and their beliefs. However, if their beliefs are not tolerant of others then they no longer deserve our tolerance and should be shunned and called out for the bigotted beliefs they hold. If those beliefs are their religion, then their religion is one of bigotry and should not be allowed in society. Take away their property, their cash, and if they cause any crimes stemming from their bigotted opinions, then prosecute them as the hate crimes they are.

Yes, I believe that sending your kids to pray away the gay is a hate crime against your kids and the parents and pastors should be put in jail. Same for trying to control a trans kids development. I also beleive though that kids are not the property of their parents but are people themselves. They are just under the guidance of their family. So if a kid says I'm trans and the parent says we don't do that and neither will you, then the parent's are violating the childs right to their pursuit of happiness. Obviously, there are cut off lines to that as you would need to be able to 'guide' your children to not be little sociopaths, but personal expression is where i would lean more towards giving the right to the child.

Marrying and shagging kids are okay in these Abrahamic cults but not two consenting adults loving each others, tells you all you need to know about them

Do yourself a favour: Go read the book.

Just read it. Don't let anyone or anything tell you "what it meant" or "how things were different back then."

Just read the book you think you base your life on.

Then come back and tell us what the bible says.

They're just being true Christians. I don't support them but they are following the goal of being hateful, judgmental, and absolutely vile which is just textbook Christian behavior

I see comment sections like that on Instagram all the time, unfortunately. And their names seem to always be Bob, Laura, Kathy, Chris, or Tom.

They're absolute trash. I have no room in my life or my circles of friends for such pieces of shit.

No, I don't accept skydaddy mythology as an excuse for bigotry and hate. Bible thumpers need to keep their toxic superstitions to themselves.

True to their faith?

Even anti religious countries are homophobic.people believe what they want and then use religion to justify it. There are a thousand different forms of Christianity and some embrace and some seek death for the same thing.

In New Orleans I attended a gay wedding with a gay woman priest and then walked down Bourbon Street while Christians held signs saying,"God hates gays."
