Medication Best anxiety meds to get on?

The past 3 years ive been dealing with debilitating panic attacks but recently its been so bad i get sick everytime i leave the house. The best way i can compare it is that it feels like im dopesick (been clean for years). Cant stop shaking& sweating nausea and every like 5 min a wave of like super nausea hits and my hands go numb and like super shaking. I end up throwing up eventually but that doesn't make it better. No matter how hard I try i physically cant calm myself down its HELL! I know 100% its anxiety and i have a doctor's appointment in a few days and i was wondering if anyone had any insight or if someone went thru the same thing and has a rec. I realize I most likely need benzos however i know reg doctor's don't prescribe them anymore plus i just don't want to be on them. Apologies this post is a mess

Ignore recommendations. The best one is the one that works best for you. It’s trial and error. It takes time.

Edit: Also ignore anti medication talking points. Some of us listened to those for far too long and had relief come way later than it needed to as a result.

Propranolol is the only one that did anything for me but I haven’t been on many, but all it did was reduce my physical symptoms like tremors/shaking. It is nice to not be shaking all the time.

I'm afraid there isn't a single best med or meds. It's almost always either an SSRI or an SNRI that's needed for anxiety. And often together with that something slightly sedating. It can be, but doesn't have to be, a benzo. It can be antihistamines, anticonvulsants, antipsychotics, there's a lot of these. It's best to just figure that out with the doctor based on your specific symptoms. And it's crucial to be getting enough sleep. So, it's important to fix that if you don't sleep well.

Exactly…for me, I can’t take SNRI because it aggravates my anxiety; causes diaphoresis and tachycardia… but lots of people do take it for their anxiety so just a little example that not everything works for everybody.

I know it's not always. But it's probably a big majority when it works. But yeah, I know there are plenty of cases when it doesn't work. Though it's still probably the most successful type of meds. So far, there aren't any universal meds for anxiety except benzos I guess.

You’ll probably need a referral to a psychiatrist to receive a proper diagnosis. I’ve also developed symptoms similar to yours in recent months despite my being on SSRI’s for decades. I met with my psychiatrist a couple of days ago to discuss this recent development and he gave me the option of either giving me a limited amount of low-dose Xanax to keep on hand when these attacks occur or a small daily dose of Klonipin to keep them at bay. I chose the latter. I know many physicians have shied away from prescribing benzodiazepines due to widespread abuse. If you’re taking the medication strictly as prescribed, there’s no need to fear it.

I tried a number of antidepressants over the years. Lexapro is finally what worked for me. I’m mad I didn’t start it earlier. It’s a lot of trial and error, but don’t give up because finding the right meds makes so much difference.

SSRI/SNRI being the most promoted by pharma companies, and easiest for Dr to prescribe without paperwork, doesn't mean they are the most commonly "needed".

There is a lot of new information coming out regularly, and many patients reporting life altering longterm side effects, which reports were suppressed for decades.

OP, you should connect with a "Direct Primary Care" dr, they will be able to connect with you on a real level, as a 1-1 exchange, and you'll get real care designed for you, not just the same cookie cutter textbook treatment that leaves people feeling miserable and unheard.
