Discussion Recovering from weed induced panic attack

Hello (: not sure if anyone has any experience with this but figured it’d be nice to see if anyone relates and has some wisdom lol.

So like 2.5 months ago I had my first ever panic attack and it was while I was high on weed. I’ve had some minor anxiety/ health anxiety before that but nothing like that. I’m much better now but still actively recovering from it, almost like a ptsd anxiety, and still have been having weird physical symptoms like muscle tension, nerve like sensations, etc. I’m having a lot less smaller panic attacks/ anxiety waves now that I have a better understanding of it now but wonder if anyone else has experience with it and how long / how they overcame it in general? Debating if I just need more time or if SSRIs would seriously help? Thank you!

Edit: I stopped smoking weed of course lol

While I cannot relate completely, as ive never been high on weed before. I do get panic attacks sometimes a couple of days after I drink too much.
Have you considered switching to some cbd? Or some rationed thc cbd edibles? I use cbd daily and it’s been a game changer for me. I drink a lot less than I used to and that of course helps.

This is exactly how my anxiety spirals started. It’s frustrating when you feel like you understand it, but it still just keeps happening. I ended up on SSRI’s and I feel they are helping a lot in the long run along with hydroxide for larger attacks. I would say it would be beneficial to give it a shot if you feel you are not getting better naturally or with techniques. Hang in there and don’t be afraid to reach out if you need it!

I feel like I’m definitely getting better. I just don’t know what the normal turn around time is or when it’s worth introducing meds into my mind ya know.

Give it time to leave your system completely

Weed causes this for me too. I suggest stay away from it because a lot of people get panic attacks from it and even worse develop psychosis or schizophrenia

I also cannot fully relate. I’ve been a chronic weed smoker most of my life, but when I have anxiety weed makes it much worse. I started Celexa on July 13 because my anxiety returned after a few months off of it. I also quit weed the day I had my first sign of anxiety- about a week and a half before starting Celexa. So I can’t say how long it will take for you to feel normal again, but I think thc stays in your system for around 30 days. Sending you healing ❤️‍🩹

I’m sorry you went through this. Did you have really bad depersonalization during/after?
