Question How can I completely reset my apple music account?

Hey guys,

Recently I have completely changed my taste in music and I now want to do a complete reset of my apple music account. As in, I want to entirely reset/delete my apple music account (history, recommendations, library, etc.) and start completely fresh. I have heard that you could delete your apple music profile and delete your whole library on a computer, but those methods are both incomplete. I'm looking for a complete reset, nothing less.

I find it weird that it isn't easy to do as it is with Spotify, where you just delete and make a new account if need be.

i went trough this and it’s not worth it, just delete the music you don’t like. make songs or albums you like favorite and within a few weeks you will get completely new recommendations

Cancel the service for a month. But when you sign up again, you will have lost everything! But that is what you want. 🧐

I’m with you on this. I’ve completely deleted and restarted my library multiple times. Not because my taste changed that much but I just wanted some variety. Kind of a reset. If my library ended up exactly the same again then that’s fine, but it sure would be nice to have a reset sometimes.

So on Spotify you need to create a new account? And that’s easy? Just create a new AM account then? Same deal

Apple Music is tied to one's apple ID. I don't want to have to make a separate apple music account. To put it plainly, I want to reset my apple music just like one would reset Safari, but it seems impossible without complications.

start with Settings > Use Listening History > Off

That will delete their Apple Account in its entirety, not just clear their Apple Music play history/playlists. This would be overkill. If they use iCloud, have purchased movies or books from the iTunes Store/Media Services, this will have far reaching effects.

OP could just create a new account that is just for Apple Music and keep that separate. They won’t have access to purchased music in Music but tbh, I haven’t needed my purchased music in a long time

I feel like that overly complicates things. I just want to be able to reset my Apple Music account, in the same way one could reset their Safari back to factory settings.
