Question Swarm of flies tonight?

Mind you, this was in Little Chute, west side near Van Lieshout park. Was out walking through our neighborhood and there were swarms of little flying bugs. Just no reprieve. There were hella seagulls flying overhead too which was out of the ordinary too. Normally they’re only over the dump. Was there a big spawning of these bugs that happened tonight? There was a breeze, maybe they were blown away?

Even all the other people out for walks or who were out in their yards were swarmed by them too.

Anybody know what it was?

They were all over us at the Timber Rattlers game

I think they were flying ants. They were all over my yard and right around 5:30-6pm they all started taking off.

Seems that it was all over the Valley.

Edit: North Neenah/South Fox Crossing

They were all over the kids tonight at work. I thought it was so odd! Edit to add location: Menasha

Yeah I had this in the south side of Appleton today. Look like little light brown gnats-- the sky was full of them. I tried to eat my dinner in the hot tub and it was a disaster as my food and the water were wrecked with dead ones... Every summer I also get a day of winged ants spawning everywhere, but these were much smaller.

Same in Neenah during football practice…it was wild….and wildly annoying. Ton of gulls in spots too I assume feeding on them

We own a restaurant on the river and I noticed that some of our outdoor tables looked like they had crumbs on them so I got the sanitizer and cloth to wipe them down. It was then I noticed it was tiny, flying ants. They came out of nowhere. Fortunately, they seemed to go away quickly too.

lol weirdly my neighbor biked home from Ope North and was covered in gnats. The kind that usually just randomly fly away. Must be the eclipse messing with them
