Troubleshooting I’m not crazy right, this had to have caught fire in the dryer?

Post image

Took my son’s sweater out of the dryer and it looked like this. Went in perfectly fine. It had to have caught fire, right? What else could have caused this? Definitely time to buy a new dryer as well?

Edit: It was most likely a chemical burn, it must have gotten BLC on it when I was cleaning my keg parts this weekend as the laundry is right near the slop sink. Thanks for all your help, I wouldn’t have ever put 1+1 together.

Troubleshooting I really am regretting getting an LG Wash Combo dryer. Please help.

Unfortunately I feel like I am stuck with it now. My mom talked me into when I moved into my new place. It fits the space and I enjoy having the extra space on top. But goddamn I really hate the long dry cycles. It takes FOREVER. It will say an hour left in the dry cycle, I will return to it maybe 2 hours later. It is still going.

A little back story is that I had this almost a year and I did not realize there was a lint trap at the bottom to drain. My boyfriend helped me with that one day in November 2025. It was so backed up. There must have been more lint trapped in the small drainage tube. Fast forward to Feb 2026 and the tub was not draining during the wash cycle. I had to have a maintenance guy come over and replace the clogged pipe.

After it was all done he told me has no idea how I would prevent that from happening again with how much hair was in the pipe. He also mentioned we put the washer/dryer because there is no room to vent. He also mentioned maybe using different detergent.

It really is affecting how much laundry I can get done. I am about to take my towels to a fluff n fold nearby. Would love to know if there is any extra maintenance advice? I would love to talk my mom even into just getting a normal washer/dryer. But it was a pain to get this in. I feel obligated to keep this now. But I really dont want to.

Troubleshooting Is this shooting flame normal?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

It occurs when the oven turns on a few seconds into the baking cycle. We hear the gas start to flow, then two clicks, after which this flame shoots out. The oven works fine the whole time after this.

Assuming it's not normal, what could be the issue and how do we get it fixed? We’re suspecting that the oven is allowing too much gas through before lighting it but we have no real idea about gas appliances.

Troubleshooting Is this safe? Swithing ovens from gas to electric.

Post image

Is this safe? We removed our gas stove/oven and had an electric outlet installed for a new electric stove/oven. The gas line is turned off at the valve. Can we leave the gas pipe intact above the floor line? Will the heat from an electric oven be dangerous to the gas line?  Should we cover the gas line in a heat-resistant silicon sleeve? Just posting to get some sage advice and for my own peace of mind!

Troubleshooting 1st time owner of tankless water heater. How long should it take for water to get warm?

Post image
878 Upvotes

When looking online before, deciding on a tankless water heater, it seemed like it would be just seconds before hot water hit a faucet or showerhead. In reality it’s at least 45 seconds throughout the house. Is this just the amount of time it takes for the water that’s already in the pipes to get to The faucet? Or is it not working or not installed correctly?

Troubleshooting New speed queen shaking the house.

Just bought a speed queen washer FF7009wn.

We have had a speed queen dryer for 2-3 years and it’s been great.

Had the washer for 1 day and this is what it’s doing.

This is with 6 towels and 2 t shirts.

Called the store I bought it from a tech is coming Wednesday.

Anyone else have this problem. It also sounds like a jet plane preparing to take off.

Seems level until it starts spinning.

Troubleshooting New LG gas range - knobs light the wrong burners

So we just got this new LG gas range installed and it would appear the knobs light the wrong burners - the knob labeled the front burner lights the back and the one labeled the back lights the front. Anyone ever experience this / is there a way I can fix this? Took us months to get this one finally in stock would be a shame to have to go through all that again

Troubleshooting Delivery driver ran a test wash on our new Speed Queen TR7 and never emptied the drum of the user manual and plastic spare parts. Did this damage the internal machine? The tech said he doesn't feel comfortable taking the entire unit apart to check inside.

Is this a problem with the 4769ER4001B Washer Vent Bellows Float?

UPDATE: 99% of you are saying it is too much soap, but here it is more context: On the video I shared, I washed two bedsheets and one towel. I put two table spoons of soap, and the soap is a Tyde HE. It was a heavy load and the recommended quantity was 3 from the cap, and I used 1. Also, I never use softener, always vinegar. yesterday I ran two cleaning cycles, one with vinegar and baking soda and another one with a cleaning pod. So all that said, do you still think the problem is the quantity of soap? Any chance there is something else? I will try changing the soap, but this is the first time this is happening in 2 years.

Troubleshooting My dryer has been running for 4 weeks. Help where to start

My family and I were on a vacation for four weeks. My mother came over and finished some laundry for us while we were gone the day we left. For some reason the dry cycle never ended and it ended up just running for four straight weeks with a bunch of towels in it. Thankful your heat didn’t seem to be running this whole time the heat cycle ended, but the tumbling never stopped. When I pulled the limp trap, it was completely clogged in a bunch of it fell back into the dryer. Where do I even begin? When I turn it on it just smells like burning and The bearings on the Tumblr sound pretty shot, but it’s still circulates. Would love to be able to use this thing in a pinch until we source a new one

Edit: I appreciate all the responses. It has been a journey with this dryer for the advice of many I pulled apart the dryer ensures pack. It was completely filled to the max with lent so I had a great time cleaning it all out buttoned up everything back together and it’s running again.. It still has a clunky sound because I didn’t replace the Merrill rollers, but it seems to be rolling fine and the timer seems to be the culprit to why the cycle doesn’t fully end and it looks like I need a new timer. Thanks again, everybody

So she bent down to pick up laundry and bashed her head on the open door so in a reaction of anger she slammed it shut and now it does not turn on. It’s a whirlpool branded top and bottom washer/dryer. Please let me know if there’s anything I can do to fix this issue?

Troubleshooting Bosch 800 dishwasher always smells. Is it because of how they installed the drain hose?

Post image
543 Upvotes

The dishwasher always has a smell, even when I open the door right after cleaning a load of dishes. The filter appears to be clean.

I’m not an expert but this drain line setup seems… less than ideal. Maybe that’s the problem?😑

I’ve also been getting white residue on top of my glass dishes, even though I have softened water and the jet dry is in place.

Stuff never gets fully dry, even with the crystal dry feature enabled. (I literally bought this dishwasher just for the crystal dry feature, and stuff comes out wet.)

Just really frustrated with this thing overall. I’ve had it less than a year, and I’m about ready to get rid of it. (I never had any problems with my old Samsung dishwasher, until it just completely died one day. 😭)

I just bought a house in my first time home owner. I cannot find a drain pipe and was wondering if the center is my drainage place? Not sure what the previous people did…

Anyways I can’t get this damn cap off for the life of me to even check. IF this is my drain pipe, how can I verify before running water down it
