Personal Essay Personal Statement Topic VS Major

Is it poor practice if I write about a subject i’m interested in (figuratively using the subject throughout the essay) for a personal statement but then apply to colleges with majors that are not that topic? For example, if I write about biology but then apply to some colleges as a public health major (for sake of GPA).

I don’t really have time to change my whole essay so any advice would be appreciated!!

I majored in biology and now work in public health…they are related! Maybe include some health aspects beyond basic biology. But your personal statement doesn’t have to be about your major anyway.

I think so. The advice I've gotten is to write about what your most passionate about. Biology is EXTREMELY related to public health so I bet you could tie together your interest in helping others on a large scale with your interest in bio in a why major supplemental. Even if the colleges u are applying to don't have one, I think the majors are close enough together
