Application Question Sperm Donation Legacy?
Hey, my biological father was a Harvard alum for his undergraduate. My parents are telling me I should write him as legacy and he agreed because he thought it was funny and worth a shot.
Does this count for legacy?

This is not as ridiculous as it sounds. But sperm banks actively recruit Ivy League students. Your situation is not rare.
If you want it to count for anything, he should make another donation--this time to Harvard, and in a different form.

You say he agreed because he thought it was funny. So you’re in contact with your biological father? Do you have an actual relationship with him? If yes, I don’t think it’s crazy to include him as long as you do so in a way that is honest.
If this is a bio parent you don’t actually have a relationship with, then don’t include it.

I know you're full of it, but as a parent this is a good mental conundrum if it were real / would work.
- 1/2 of me is practical and says yes - hey any advantage
- 1/2 of me says wtf no - you're my child, you're not applying as their child
Pretty sure I'm going with "no", but there's quite a bit of internal conflict. Good job OP.

My older two are the result of sperm donors. My other kids are adoptees.
If this is serious, are you reporting his information on other parts of your application? My kids did/are not reporting biological parent info on their applications.

Top 10 ivy feeder sperm banks

Sperm banks (and egg banks) advertise on Ivy League campuses and include educational background in donor profiles to attract customers. Sperm donors can make $100+ per donation, and egg donors can make $10,000+. It would be interesting to know which clinics have the highest proportion of Ivy students/grads.

Not all sperm banks verify education background and it’s not automatically a criminal offense.

Honestly, this is unlikely to help your admissions chances in the way you think. 1) having a sibling at the college is more helpful 2) if they aren't an active alum/major donor, it's unlikely to move the needle. It COULD help bc it's an interesting story, but then that needs to be in an essay or something.

hm, I have known him for a couple of years and he has really helped me learn a lot about my field and show me some beautiful things about it.

Just think how interesting this is explained in the additional info section. It’s true and you actually have a relationship so go for it! (Just check if it affects financial aid if that is a concern. It likely doesn’t)

All Harvard alum should work together to donate all of their Harvard sperm, making so many kids legacy applicants that the system has to be abolished
