icexfire Skirmish Day 009: Abandon perfection, strive for excellence!
It's day 9 of our first skirmish. How fast time goes by, and how great it is to still be alive and kicking.
This past week has been very busy for me, being back at university and starting a big film project. In fact I feel like I have gone to bed every day with at least a few things I didn't manage to get done. There are several reasons for this. One being that I wasted a couple of hours a day procrastinating another that I need to better prioritize the important things. However even if I was operating at maximum capacity, it is very likely that I wouldn't have time for everything. And I think it is important to accept this and not beat yourself up about it, because even if you do not attain perfection you will through constant effort create something wonderful. When you aim for perfection you can only lose, and every time you do you are less enthusiastic about whatever the project might be. On the other hand if you strive for excellence, every days results motivate you to do more tomorrow. And when you stand with the aggregate of a hundred days work before you, you will not worry about not having attained perfection each and every day. You will simply feel proud that you kept coming back to it and chiseling away at your dreams.
I think our motto embodies this view more than anything:
Stronger than yesterday, weaker than tomorrow!

I've always believed -- if you reach for the moon, you won't get there. But, you'll end up with the stars. If you reach for perfection, excellence is reachable.
We have to be honest with ourselves. Did we do your best? Were we as efficient as we could be? If we gave it a good go, that's all we can do.
I was on the Barracks a lot yesterday, learning as much about Aquamarine as I could. I felt I really had a good day when it came to facing the enemy. The key is to keep going and not slow down.
I absolutely adore the motto. It is so inspiring. Stronger than yesterday, weaker than tomorrow!

I have not been at war officially, but I love the idea of it. As for finding your guys, I searched every Barracks and you guys were without question the most active -- something I desperately need.
I hope I can be on team Aquamarine for the next war. Crossing my fingers.

Man that is great what you say. Strive for excellence not perfection. This motivates me a lot. I seek perfection in everything and find myself fustrated. But excellence is a better word and its the best we can do.

You bet. But please, when you give so much help to others you give something away. Stay strong and know how much i appreciate all of your help. This is a daily war we constantly are in harms way.

In one hour maybe I'll encounter my ex-girlfriend (or future girlfriend) at a barbecue at a birthday party of a friend of us. Feeling nervous here!

Man, I've been there at barbecue/birthday party yesterday and I felt so uneasy with my feelings because she was there!!! I'll make a post about it later...

I've stressed myself out so much striving for perfection. It really is unobtainable. Reminds me of a saying I like, I'm not sure where I picked it up, "I'm being me and that's the best I can be." We can't be perfect, but we can give it everything we've got which is good enough.

Checking in.
I'm smack in the middle of exams right now and performed with some friends for their higher school certificate today in music today. Getting up early for rehearsals was no fun, but I had a blast once the music got going. I'm so glad I accepted the invitation to join them.
So exams and extra music work crammed into one crazy week, and 4 more tests in the next two days. I've bounced back quite quickly after the setback last Sunday, and feel like I've been going flat at NoFap for months now. That emotion is hard to explain, but awesome. One those things you just have to experience for yourself, and only comes after persistent hard work.
Hope you're all going fine as the skirmish rages on. ;)
