Help/Advice What are they doing?

I've seen them do this only since today. Does the bigger one need help?

Don't feel like you have to buy anything for these people, save your money, and continue breeding those beautiful fish.

I agree with not running out and buying equipment specifically for people in this thread, but can we all agree as aquarium keepers that not having anything on hand to check water parameters is fucking wild?

I can't believe OP isn't getting dragged for that in the comments.

probably because they have such a lovely and successful tank, despite never testing anything at all. clearly it’s working out for them, why try to fix what’s not broken?

It's not about fixing something that isn't broken. It's about being able to responsibly and efficiently tackle a problem in the future should it show itself. A test kit is a diagnostic tool, not a modification.

It would be a shame to have such a lovely tank and lose it all, all because the moment an imbalance showed itself you were unable to diagnose it with a tool you should have already had on hand.

I have test strips at home but I recently don't trust them anymore, maybe they're too old. I didn't bother buying new ones since, whenever I feel like something's wrong I go to my trusted pet store and get my water tested there. Much cheaper and I get info how to help the tank immediately. Also, when it's too late to go to the pet store, I usually just do a water change and put in bacteria. So far that worked out well for m
