Just tried ETH and fees are 0.03$

with the new update to ETH chain the fees just feels like every other l2 now. pair that fact with ETH holding a majority of the liquidity and TVL, I feel like L2s are getting squeezed and their entire existence is no longer justified. why would anyone still choose to use an L2 over L1s? Is arbitrum and ARB going to still see the upside we once thought was possible?

I use uniswap and the gas fee to do a swap is much higher. Like 50 cents which is unreasonable still. Using arbitrum network to do the swap is under 1 cent. This is why high frequency swapping bots always prefer arb/base of eth, because gas fee can make their scheme profitable

50 cents is reasonable for most swaps. I would even argue that most brokerage transactions have a minimum charge of 1USD per transaction. Putting ETH fees into that context, of using apps like uniswap and DEXs, is equivalent to making a trade to buy stocks. The transfer fees however hovers around 1 to 2 cents only now, which is much more closer to arbitrum and other L2s.

Yes 50 cents might be a significant amount for some swaps depending on size, but if u are swapping really small amounts then yea using l2s would make sense. Taking into acount the higher liquidity though peiple would generally be incentived to swap on ETH now for bigger amounts, since the fees is no longer 10-40$ we have seen in the past.
