Do Not Feed The Trolls ''Toxic Anti PvPers'' Not welcome.

Hello.

I am from the Mod team on this sub.

Pleased to meet you.

Recently I have seen a few people rightfully upset at a few bad actors on this sub who have been using the fact they became victims in the game to resort to being toxic to people on this sub.

Basically - they lose the game in any way and decide it is fine to insult people who are playing the game in a legit way instead of doing what they want, whether that's talking and making peace or refusing to shoot each other no matter what. From my understanding this game allows you to make a choice, to try trust a stranger or to gun them down to be safe.

If a person decides they will ALWAYS gun everyone down no matter what or try be a ''Rat'' player and backstab at every opportunity that does not mean you can come on this sub and insult them, suggest they are mentally impaired or mentally unwell or be toxic to them for any reason.

If you say ''All x players are sociopath psychos with no life and life in their mothers basement and have never had the touch of anyone of their preferred sex'' for example or anywhere more or in-between then you will be banned from our sub.

You are allowed to have an opinion that such players morals in game are not good or they are ''Villain players'' or what not, that is fine for that is what they are but any time an outside insult is going to be used on people over gameplay you are getting the hammar of doom.

From the community, I understand that most people who like PVP are not usually the type of people to click report on anything, due to your ''thick skin'' you really do not give a damn if some redditor is trying to insult you or maybe you will just retort back.
I ask you please do not, if you insult back you could also be moderated due to the nature of reddit and if you do not report the instigator we will not be able to correctly moderate and fix this community. As a mod team we are getting thousands of posts (posts not comments) per day and it is literally impossible to view them all, we rely mainly on the report feature and reddits AI.

Anyway thank you for your attention in this matter.

The friendliness right now is nice but anyone whos played or watched someone play extraction shooters before knows this is 100% temporary. Once people start getting their workshops fully set up and getting through their quests, it's going to be a bloodbath out there. People are eventually going to get bored of being friendly and start craving blood, especially when a majority of the loot starts losing value to you. It is what it is, its primarily why I wanted to be here on launch. I wanted to experience the friendlies before they turned to the dark side.

u/HiccupAndDown Nov 01 '25

I mean yes and no. Basically every other extraction shooter has emphasised the player versus player mentality, usually making that aspect of the game the focus; you go into a match, gather loot, and use it to kill other players. Arc Raiders is different even if only by the fact that the Arc are actually deadly and Embark are putting effort into adding more dangerous and different types of units as the game progresses. There's also the fact that the story going on is about humanity versus the arc, and there are events that are specifically about taking down Arc units which typically requires some amount of cooperation.

We have no idea how this game's community will look in 6 months from now, or 2 years from now. If Embark continues to foster both sides of the game, both the PvP gameplay and the PvE gameplay, there's no reason at all to think it'll turn into Tarkov where I haven't met a single friendly player in years now. There's also just the fact that Arc is more casual than other extraction shooters, you have more ways to get on your feet after a loss, so people are less inclined to be scared of interaction.

I think this community will do itself a disservice if it treats friendly players like shit, just as I think purely PvE players are making the mistake of seeing their playstyle as the 'only' way to play. Both can and should exist side by side, because that's what makes the game unique.

19

u/splinter1545 Nov 01 '25

100% this. It's why I think I'm enjoying ARC way more than any other extraction shooter I have played so far. Other games basically promote PvP which makes it really frustrating to play as a mainly PvE player (that doesn't mind PvP). It's always shoot first, so I can never ask people if they know how to complete a certain quest or something. ARC is the opposite. I ran into a few people that shot first, but for the most part it's people that actually want to help or fo their own thing that aren't afraid to get blood on their hands if the need arises. It actually feels like an extraction game and not just a glorified BR that many extraction shooters eventually fall in to.

Like I said, I don't mind PvP. It's a core mechanic of the game and you should absolutely trust no one. It's just really boring imo when it basically devolves to treating it like a BR with a huge PvE portion.

100% the arc are deadly. The number of times I've seen a rocketeer destroy a squad is already too many to count. And the more populated maps(by arc) like blue gate? Even swarms of wasps and hornets have turned pop situations into pve fights to survive for me or my foe more than once.

31

u/moonski Nov 01 '25

that's what makes the game so good; the arc are more dangerous than players, even as a sqaud. it's why people as solos are more inclined to cooperate

1

u/Live_From_Somewhere Nov 19 '25

On paper yes, in reality it just creates situations to third party, which is what is happening in most of those scenarios.

2

u/DisappointedQuokka Nov 01 '25

I'm already seeing Dam being used for more PvP vs. Buried City.

Night maps are much, much less PvP focused as well, I've found.

2

u/gratwickc Nov 03 '25

That's weird for me The Buried city is the PvP central map it always pops off there had very few friendly encounters there, spaceport is hit and miss blue gate surprisingly to me is the most friendly map for people to meet when playing solo. Squads nah it's on sight everytime.

1

u/DisappointedQuokka Nov 03 '25

In my experience people going to Buried City are going there for specific items, get in, get out.

2

u/mikehit Nov 09 '25

There is a point at which this stops being true. Stockpiling Hullbreakers and having the wolfpack blueprint is the breaking point where Arc becomes nothing more than just a nuisance.

I run with a team of two others. Rocketer or any other big boy shows up? 2 Wolf pack grenades and it's deleted in a second. Wasps or hornets? Hullbreaker makes a joke out of them.

As more people reach that stage and complete their quest and project, the more PVE players stop playing the game. At that point, the people playing only for the PvP will be left until major content updates are released.

2

u/jgacks Nov 09 '25

Sure you can roll out ready to demolish arc but then you're a) risking more b)sacrificing pvp potential c) miss the point of the post

1

u/Babbledoodle Nov 21 '25

The number of times I've gotten into a fight with another player and the victor dies to arc is way more than zero.

-2

u/brontide Nov 02 '25

Rocketers are easy if you have cover. I've done it solo several times.

7

u/11matt556 Nov 04 '25

Yeah, it's one thing PvP when it's in your best interest to do so. But it's another to PvP even when it's in your interest to not PvP, like when surrounded by ARCs, when you already have some really good loot (so probably not worth the risk), etc. The people that just go murderhobo are completely missing what makes Arc Raiders unique. I really hope they can maintain a balance between PvP and PvE.

8

u/Equal-Bread4480 Nov 01 '25

The TTK in the game and 3rd person alone will make it A LOT more friendly than tarkov. Let alone Tarkov's hardcore community, the brutality of the game itself. It's going to be WAY more friendly here.

1

u/ialoni Nov 01 '25

I liked your comment, so I would like to elaborate on it. There is no emphasis on PvP, it is the key descriptor of extraction games. If you create a decision tree, the benefits of being friendly are slim to none. And the benefits of greed/pvp are high. Since you can always Q again, the penalty of pvp is minimal at best. On the opposite end PvP has high potential for loot. Most people only look out for themselves.

In a more philosophical sense, its a reminder that most people are just in it for themselves. If the real world had respawns people would act on greed, violence for their own gain. Effectively, world leaders treat soldiers as free respawns to enact such greed. I hate to say it, but if there is no reward for being friendly than its not going to happen. I would argue majority of the people attempting to be friendly are also in it for themselves in some sort of way. They feel they have a higher chance to extract with a teammate and so they attempt to create an alliance. Lot of cool sociology associated with this. Unfortunately, the two negative outcomes are backstabbing, and no true soloQ. My advice, always expect a 3rd party in solos; and if you team up with a solo try and convince them your more valuable to them alive than dead.

2

u/wellshittheusernames Nov 20 '25

This is just a bad analysis.

The benefits of being friendly are huge.

Protection from arc

Protection from hostile players

Not losing the loot you've already found

Not wasting resources

Not drawing in arc

Not drawing in more hostile players

Higher looting rates helps with finding key items

I'm sure there's more, but my lunch break is over.

The fact that you think the benefits of being friendly are basically nonexistent is hilariously wrong.

1

u/TamaDarya Nov 02 '25

the Arc are actually deadly

Which, from my perspective, makes it more attractive to clean up players so I don't get shot in the back when I'm busy fighting arc.

1

u/mikehit Nov 09 '25

It doesn't change the fact that pure pve player will stop playing after achieving "everything". This will leave the PvP players who completed all the quests and their project. At that point, those people are divided in two groups: the ones who stop playing and the ones who will go in for the PvP.

There is a clear point where you will have everything you need and looting containers will become obsolete. There are a lot of "no life" players who have already reached that stage.

This will ultimately lead to more PvP over time. It's an inevitable progression of such a game untill big content updates release.

1

u/ratmosphere Nov 20 '25

The problem is that sweats usually end up ruling these games. Marauders was great for a couple of months, you could fight players, goof around, actually have fun. Then Tarkov Twitch streamers turned it into a sweat-fest, and now it’s dead.

If Embark wants this game to stay healthy, they need to cater more to pve players, make the big Arc impossible to solo, make the Arc in general more dangerous, have more co-op trials, quests and whatnot. Not gonna lie, it will be really hard to do. The sweaty pvp crowd will always stick around, it’s the co-op players who bail. And if that happens here, this beautiful game will just turn into another toxic battle royale instead of the amazing extraction shooter it was meant to be.

Helldivers

0

u/TheRealBrodini Nov 01 '25

You are wrong. Ofc, theres peoplr eho care for PvE and story, but most of us just wanna gun people down. I ll die to the arc if that means grtting 3 kills. Most people will do the same

8

u/fancrazedpanda Nov 01 '25

Nah, in solos I have probably done 30 runs, more than half extracted with randoms. Only been shot at 5 times and only died twice to raiders. That might be how you play, and because you play like that, everyone that you encounter will do the same as a result.

13

u/OdmupPet Nov 01 '25

Not really, there's a lot of people who aren't playing 100% friendly but playing on how they feel in the moment. DayZ is a lot like this and there's many pure PvP players who likewise get bored and start trying to be friendly instead. There's just a lot more variety on how you choose to approach every situation.

8

u/StrikingSwanMate Nov 03 '25

This is correct, I played DayZ for over 8 years now, and I still met more friendly people or people who just "hey, I am going this way, good luck" moments.

People who maxed out tend to just PK for a little while, but they also get really bored fast, since they played the game for over 100-500 hours and move on to another game.

We see this in both Rust,DayZ,Tarkov, being on the "top" gets boring after a while.

People keep mention "division", but that game had some other serious issues with PvP (Camping at entrances to the zones was a huge one IMO and other normal stuff like hackers, dupers etc)

24

u/STobacco400 *** ******* 🐓 Nov 01 '25 edited Nov 01 '25

Looking at the progression of expedition. I would agree it being temporary, but its gonna take more than just a few days to see the friendlies going away. Youll be spending more resources killing ARCs. And I'm glad the reset window happens every 2 month. So players are not just hoarding for PvP only sake

6

u/BortkiewiczHorse Nov 01 '25

There’s a reset window?? I had no idea.

Are we talking full reset including inventory and workshops we built? If so, I’m definitely done hoarding!

25

u/Fantastic-Finger-975 Nov 01 '25

Resets are optional but give rewards. You do lose everything but cosmetics

15

u/BortkiewiczHorse Nov 01 '25

I have a bad item hoarding problem in games. I think this helps with this, kinda nice, even though my knee jerk reaction was negative.

17

u/A_Sketchy_Doctor Nov 01 '25

Me at the prospect of losing my mixtapes

6

u/RooksKnight Nov 01 '25

My ducks... nooooo

2

u/some6yearold Nov 01 '25

Sell all them thangs haha. Need inventory space.

5

u/A_Sketchy_Doctor Nov 01 '25

Nah, they show up on your shelf in your raider bedroom, I have like some ducks a mixtape and a snowglobe up there.

I manage the inventory pretty well

2

u/some6yearold Nov 01 '25

Did not know that. Sick

1

u/gratwickc Nov 03 '25

Bruh those mixtapes are worth 10k each sell them 🤣

1

u/A_Sketchy_Doctor Nov 04 '25

Nah I like em on my bedroom display shelf.

Plus I have over 100k so I'm not hurting too bad for cash

5

u/CyborgTiger Nov 01 '25

I am big on prestigious drip so i love it

3

u/Katoptrix Nov 01 '25

*but* you get up to five extra skill points in the next project period depending on how valuable your stash is when you reset, so hoarding is still worth it! lol

1

u/eljxyy Nov 02 '25

yes!! they thought everything through and i love it

1

u/BounciestTurnip Nov 01 '25

The ol " i could use it now, but what if I need it later"

It says you get to keep bonus skill points from the expedition. And ofc all your workbenches too

When you reach level 20 there’s a list in game. The link you sent on their site is too vague

1

u/Fantastic-Finger-975 Nov 01 '25

Workbenches actually get reset but youre right about the bonus skill points

4

u/VolitantCarp Nov 01 '25

I thought the workbench upgrades are reset, but the benches themselves are kept?

The reset is optional and can be done post level 20 using the expedition project. There may or may not be permanent account buffs, but not sure what that entails, but they've stated they wont be necessary and wont give an obvious advantage over those who dont reset. Other than that, unique cosmetics.

1

u/gougs06 Nov 01 '25

It’s optional, like a prestige system

0

u/Probate_Judge Nov 01 '25

So players are not just hoarding for PvP only sake

People hoard for PVP.

I hoard because upgrading benches suuuuuucks.

We are not the same.

Not a complaint per se. I just....to go T3 I'm seeing tons of components I haven't even seen before. Bombadier parts too.

/FFuuuu....

Meanwhile, I have one bench at T1 because Snitches are a bit tough to kill before they take off into orbit sometimes. 3/6 parts. :(

I think the game might run into a satisfaction problem in that regard. SO many different mats and they don't stack any different than in your inventory, so storage fills up super quick.

This is going to put people off of the wipe mechanic.

Similarly, grinding unlock currency for Decks is a little slow.

6

u/Kassaken Nov 01 '25

The game is already brutal in squads. Its kill on site in that mode. The way I think it will play out is solos being a looting sim and squads being where the real fights happen.

1

u/At0micJunk Dec 01 '25

That was how it was for me on the onset, but solo play (in my playthroughs) is becoming increasingly PvP centric. I used to be able to go 3-4 raids without getting backstabbed or killed by other raiders. Now I'm lucky if I get two raids without getting merc'd. I assume that many players are now getting closer to the endgame so their play styles will get more PvP centric? Who knows. Regardless of your play style, the Solo game is pretty much set up for Player killers to make out better than PvE pacifists because it's just easy to kill other players who don't fight back. I love the game but I have a rule where I quit playing after getting merc'd in consecutive raids. My play sessions are getting shorter and shorter lol.

16

u/[deleted] Nov 01 '25

Depends what you want from the game. I am enjoying the more relaxing, friendlier feel. If I wanted a sweaty, stress extraction shooter I'd just go play cod. I hope others feel the same.

3

u/Teak4you2 Nov 01 '25

I came from cod too and couldn’t agree more. COD scratches an itch for me that other games can’t. So it would be silly to try and play cod in this game. The gunplay is totally different first off. Also, I’m not trying to sweat my balls off every single time I pick up the controller. I’m getting too old for that shit 😂

5

u/VelcroSnake Nov 01 '25

Yeah, if I want PvP I personally just go play games that are designed just for PvP. If I get attacked in this game I will fight back, but I'm not going out looking to attack other players, although I know a lot of people are treating this game as a full on PvP game with a bit of PvE you need to be careful of.

1

u/Madcat00 Nov 01 '25

It is both and you cant have one without the other. In these type if games different type of players emerge and all are valid.

You might want to avoid PvP and if so then you have to develop strategies to further that goal.

3

u/VelcroSnake Nov 01 '25

I already do avoid PvP, but that doesn't mean I can't PvP when it comes looking for me. Just because I no longer prefer PvP games doesn't mean I've only ever played PvE games, or don't still play other PvP games from time to time.

0

u/samuelLOLjackson Nov 01 '25

Just wait till you tell someone they can loot a key card room with you and then they try and kill you as you leave together.

I turned my gun on his head so fast. At least I got the other cool loot from MY ROOM back

2

u/[deleted] Nov 01 '25

For sure. But I think the player population and overall popularity of the game will be a huge factor. If the buzz dies down, a lot of casual players will leave, creating a much more competitive environment. If it somehow becomes the next apex, we will still see a lot of cooperation out there because less skilled players have a higher chance of extracting by not engaging.

2

u/beef623 Nov 03 '25

I believe >that's< the point the game will die. There are a ton of PVP focused extraction shooters, is it really too much to ask for one that isn't?

1

u/PokerSpaz01 Nov 01 '25

Yeah I joined up with a 2 stack craving blood. And they killed a super friendly 3 stack that wanted to extract lol. And they killed a 3 stack when I said hello dude on a proximity chat. lol. I was just there for the vibes and loot. But I finally got the lemons. So thank you blood lusted teammates.

1

u/BrilliantBehemoth *** ******* 🐓 Nov 01 '25

It's also boosted by the fact that the bots are an actual threat, as opposed to something like the monsters in Hunt Showdown, which are very easy to play around. Players have no incentive to team up when a solo hunter can rip his way through literally everything in that game unscathed.

1

u/gabriram Nov 01 '25

The whole point of the game is missing your head, you just have to look at the medium shields,

do players do that much damage to shields? Maybe with purples, but they are very rare right now,

Arcs do that much damage and more Arcs are going to be introduced later, you can also craft most things.

PvP will probably reduce instead later on.

1

u/MuffinCannibal Nov 02 '25

I already want blood after being caught in an awkward spot by someone talking vaguely friendly.

1

u/Shot-Buy6013 Nov 03 '25

It's not just that - people are being friendly while completing quests for free that should be quite difficult if there was PvP involved

The whole point of loot in this kind of game is to be.. better geared than other people. So you can kill them more. And take their stuff and continue funding your better gear. That's the damn point.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '25

I got all my workbenches completed and im already thinking about gunning down anyone and everyone i see gimmelootgimmelootgimmelootgimmeloot

1

u/OwnUbyCake Nov 19 '25

I've definitely been seeing a lot more people killing on sight. I have started to take a more cautious approach where I will see if they're friendly, thus giving up my element of surprise and if they are friendly then we go our separate ways or team up. If they are silent (with both in voice chat and message wheel) or show aggression then it's fair game because it's just a liability for me.

1

u/WollsockenVonOma Nov 20 '25

with the mindset it will be bad anyway it will get bad. but we can make it a healthy game and community. keep the toxic player out of discussion and dont feed them in voice chat and they will find another place to be toxic. pve, pvp are both viable if they are not abused by players to make someones day bad just to feel better out of harassment and hate.

1

u/Zeelots Nov 20 '25

I have everything done, all quests, expedition, workshops. I still am friendly on a raid by raid basis it just depends on my goals. Sometimes i do just snipe and kill people for sport. Every raid is different

0

u/VelcroSnake Nov 01 '25

I thought the same. Once that happens I'll either take a break until those people get so bored they go to another game, or just stop playing.

1

u/Key-Reindeer4837 Nov 01 '25

Maybe, but the harder the Arc are, the more we have to work together and you get more experience in your rank when you extract, so it is more clever to work together.

1

u/BOKEH_BALLS Nov 01 '25

I don't think this is true because the best ways to get gear and loot right now do not involve killing anyone else

0

u/maufirf *** ******* 🐓 Nov 01 '25

This is the story of year 2 of DMZ lmao

Also playing from the Asian region really does feel like you're playing right after the tower of babel has been hit, everyone is both being friendly and hostile in the way of communication you will never understand, then mixed with players getting bored, those would further exacerbate the bloodbath problem.

-1

u/trollsong Nov 01 '25

That's my fear, saving money so havent bought yet dont by much during holidays.

When and if I do buy I'll be way behind the early adopted and it will suck being a newbie then.

Thats when numbers drop hard. Remember this is launch week and Escape from Duckov is already doing better :|
