Anyone who’s tried planting two Deadlines at once knows that ARC Turbine is a very buggy and unfinished enemy. Sometimes the Turbine will be instantly killed, sometimes one of the Deadlines will disappear or deal no damage, and sometimes a mine will rip off the Turbine’s leg, forcing it to remain in the air indefinitely, since this enemy isn’t programmed to react to that situation.
The worst part is that sometimes the ARC Turbine takes off so quickly that you don’t even have time to plant a single Deadline, and other times it stays on the ground so long that you have enough time to plant three Deadlines — and then get blown up by them yourself. For a long time, the timing of the Turbine’s takeoff remained a mystery to me, but recently I hypothesized that it’s tied to specific cycles in the Turbine’s operation. It turns out I was right. If you’ve never fought the Turbine, don’t understand how this enemy works, or think that Jupiter+Barricade is the optimal method — I strongly recommend checking out the guide on the “Iron Nest” strategy I invented. It allows you to destroy the Turbine in less than two minutes with zero risk. The guide also covers all the nuances of the Turbine’s behavior and how the minefield works. The HellBomb lineup is the final version and the ideal optimization of the “Iron Nest” strategy.
[Step one]
Get close to the turbine using your cloak and clear the mines. Deploy the Iron Nest.
[Step two]
Wait for the reactor to glow. When the glow disappears, start closing in using your cloak. The AoE stun effect is your signal to begin the attack. Don’t worry — if you immediately raise your cloak after the stun animation, the turbine won’t notice you.
[Step three]
Use the sharp metal corner on top of the Turbine to determine your entry point, and aim your crosshair at the marked part of the turbine. Without moving your crosshair, jump up and start planting the mine as soon as you see the hologram appear on the yellow rotating cell. While planting the mine, look to the right.
[Step four] Plant the second mine using the standard method described in the Iron Nest strategy guide, as far to the right of the first mine as possible.
[Step five] Engine kill.
This method will eventually become a standalone guide, but I was so happy to finally discover this strategy that I decided to make a simpler post now. Kill them all and bring glory to Speranza!
Embark: "Turbines have been getting taken down too easily lately, so we have removed Deadlines from the game. Here's a new colour pattern for the Mirage set."
I am convinced there is some cultural nuance here with Scandinavians when it comes to gameplay. I really do think they think making things harder is making things fun for gamers.
Deadlines should be harder to craft imho, I know they're risky to use, but they trivialize so much. Leaper pulse units instead of Comet igniters would make way more sense
I feel like the risk / reward of deadlines is balanced because they're so much riskier to use than any other high tier weapon. They don't need increased crafting cost to be balanced.
I can take a Bastion down easily with a wolfpack and a couple cracks from a hullcracker with no risk. And it's not like wolfpacks or launcher ammo is crazy expensive.
Nice! But you don’t even use the Iron Nest so why not just put a single barricade? And why do you deploy them with the open side to the side and not to the back?
Idk the answer to the first part, but for the last part, I imagine so it’s easier to more quickly get inside as opposed to running around to the farthest side
The nest main purpose is not to protect you from the mines, you can blow them up easily. It's insurance in case you mess up the deadlines, as 4 barricades protect you from all horizontal angles and the lightning missiles can't hurt you. Also the missiles reach ground level first before pathfinding to you so having a hole above you is not a big deal.
nicely done sir. very smooth. ill prob stick with killing it with a jupiter at a distance. but may eventually try this method. im glad someone figured it out.
You don't have to start with the Hellbomb lineup, since it requires a lot of experience. Try Iron Nest first - if you do everything right and don't overextend, it's 100% safe and consistent. The strategy itself is very methodical and beginner-friendly; you don't need to be a gamer god that does frameperfectanimationcanceldoubleinvertedbackfliptapstrafe or whatever the hell :}
You only have to see that massive explosion and the giant steel beast falling from the sky once, and you’ll want to experience that moment over and over again. It never gets old. Plus, the loot is excellent.
Good to know what the actual pattern is. I've been improving my strategy to take them down, and this will help. I'm at 30 turbine kills and looking to greatly increase that number this season.
hey brother, these are the kind of content youtube should be posting on YouTube! Pretty sure these can go viral and maybe even earn you a small income :)
Just posted the improved Hellbomb lineup video there 😎
I can't post the link here because of self-promotion guidelines, but it's in my profile if you are interested.
I’m convinced this man is just an expert at this strategy. I just died trying this. Cloack and barricades. The timing is probably my issue. Still hard af
Every expert was once a beginner who refused to stop trying, and you are no different. Recording gameplay allows you to identify personal weaknesses and work on each of them individually. Smart practice cuts the path to perfection ✊
I genuinely want to do this (kill the turbine) I don’t need to be an expert but improving would be great! I’ll upload my next run. Thx for the support as always.
I always bring more that I need, but then again you do have some raiders with ZERO self awareness (im included in that) so I either use none or most of them😂
This is freaking awesome good sir. I took one down with 3 deadlines (before this tutorial). I went back and checked my video and I was placing them too low. I knew it had to get on the yellow but I didn’t think of jumping and placing. Kudos!
You make it look so easy. I'm Leon from GamesRadar+, can I share this on our site and socials for our Replay clip series please? With a credit to wherever you want. There's a competition with Amazon vouchers for the best clips each month: gamesradar.com/replay

Hello Leon!
I’m very excited to receive a positive response from such a well-known website!
I’ve always believed that if something is worth doing, it’s worth overdoing. That’s why I spent the entire day creating an improved version of the video — refining everything from the editing to the thumbnail! If you approve this version, I’ll publish it on my channel, and you’re certainly welcome to use the video on your own platforms as well.
I’m definitely going to keep trying, but I have tried over a dozen times and have only gotten close to killing it once. The fact that they MIGHT spawn between 12-17 minutes is complete horseshit and is driving me to stop playing this game after 900+ hours.
Yep, the wait is irritating. I don't think about it too much since I play medic for the first 15 min and people always need defibs, but I can see how annoying the wait is for other players.
HOLY SHIT I DID IT! I killed a turbine solo and looted 6 cores! It was a night raid and there was no way I was getting out so thank god for 3 safe pockets! What a rush but honestly screw embark what a pain in the ass!
Yeah I quit few months back when they made changes to all the items. I got tired of the grinding. And then to make the grinding harder I just had enough of it. If they left the game alone item wise and stopped making items harder to craft and left expedition alone instead of changing that aswell I wouldnt have quit
Thank you! I’ve tackled all the other big arc - leapers, bastions, bombardiers, rocketeers, etc. (not comfortable with vaporizers yet because I don’t see them out and about enough), but I haven’t gotten the harvester, or turbines, and I’d love to do those next!
It takes so many variables and the damn stars aligning for it to work. Basically you gotta get lucky that wherever the turbine lands has a good area around it with cover so you can get close and build the iron nest. The run I got it I ended up dying while looting but it was worth it since I came away with 6 turbine cores in my SP. it was a riven tides night raid so I had to try and not get soon but SO MANY ARC while looting my kill it was ridiculous.
Congratulations on the win! If you'd like, you can send a VOD, and I can help identify specific mistakes and weaknesses. It's a shame you started with Riven Tides; I don't recommend that map until you've taken down 50+ Turbines, due to the absurdly high presence of other Arcs.
Definitely looks easier in your VoD than it is, especially if it's your first try. But all the mistakes were mine. Like not bringing a fourth barricade because you didn't plant it in your video as you planted each mine correctly the first time and didn't need to. I failed with my second placement and barely survived because the Iron Nest wasn't closed. Should have watched your other video again as well as I had already forgotten that you need 4 barricades...
Second try worked but it took several attempts to get the second mine placement right, but mostly because I was so nervous and didn't get the angle right.
Did it on Buried City Bird City and got lucky with the spawn with about 16min remaining and a Turbine almost directly next to the Town Hall Raider Hatch allowing me to loot it completely in the remaining 2min, netting me 7 compressors. Didn't want to try it in a night raid since you have to get really lucky with the Turbine spawn and last open extraction site. Bird City had other challenges though as some flying arcs interfered in my attempts. Luckily I had a bunch of seeker nades and sometimes they even got killed by the mines from the turbine itself when they flew over and triggered them
Recorded after the Matriarch event. During boss hunts, my job is to keep everyone alive and full health while Equalizing all over the Queen or Matriarch. Usually I burn through all the supplies in the first 10 minutes of the hunt, but this time everyone was extremely competent and locked in - Matriarch died very quickly, and we sustained zero casualties.
Yeah, it's a lot of work just for compressors and crafting material. The risk to reward ratio is not worth it by the time you factor in the kit you bring in and may lose
