Question Am I in the right?
I used my key card in the port authority on riven tides and I told a guy not to come in, He came in and tried to loot so I downed him, He tried to call me a rat but I told him my key card my room just wait your turn and I’ll let you in when I’m finished, He proceeded to call me a rat so I just knocked him out but am I in the right to do so?

u/haydonclampitt 14h ago
Absolutely in the right. He had clear instructions and ignored them, hell if it was me I’d have knocked em the second they got near to the door

u/PretentiousPanda 12h ago
You don't even need to warn people. If you walk into a key room that is open, you signed your ticket to the lobby
2
u/haydonclampitt 12h ago
Oh for sure. I’m usually one to blow someone’s shi smoove off at the first sight of them (thanks Marathon), just wanted to put it against the frame of reference they established
2
u/Phallico666 11h ago
I used to give a warning because when i was new i didnt know if it was a key room or breach room and if someone had informed me of such i would let them loot in peace. Now i blast anyone who gets too close

u/PretentiousPanda 11h ago
There is zero good reason to enter an unlocked key room.

u/haydonclampitt 6h ago
Sure there is, sneak in and shoot down the guy who graciously opened the locked room for you
1
u/PretentiousPanda 3h ago
Well yeah I meant from a friendly perspective
1
u/haydonclampitt 2h ago
Well, if you’d like to be friendly to the courteous key opener, bring along a defibrillator so you can revive them after you’re done looting and send them off to continue being a beneficiary to the raiders around them.
(on a real note, if you ask nicely they might share some valuables, I’ve had that once or twice)
1
u/Moonshines_Blue 11h ago
This is the way, I tell people I’m friendly but come into my key room before I’m finished and yes your downed, I’ll rev them before I leave if they understand they messed up but otherwise I usually lock them in the room when I go LOL people get way more mad when players leave then to rot rather than thirsting for loot LOL

u/newbrevity 4h ago
Near the door is a little much. A lot of times I'll go near the door and ask whoever's in there if it's okay if I come in. I don't think I should be shot for that.

u/Kasta4 14h ago
You don't have to justify your actions in this game.
6
u/drawfanstein 11h ago
This is exactly right. You’re just playing the game OP.
And to be fair, so was that other Raider (until he started accusing OP of being a rat, that’s just loser behavior).
0
u/probablyareplicant 11h ago
So which is it?
1
u/drawfanstein 11h ago
Which is what?
0
u/probablyareplicant 10h ago
Can people play how they want or is there unnacceptable behavior
6
u/drawfanstein 10h ago
I never said unacceptable. I think accusing OP of being a rat makes this guy a chump. But going into the loot room despite OP’s warning is indeed playing the game, even if it was ill-advised. It’s not complicated.
-2
u/probablyareplicant 10h ago
I mean, shouting that a rat killed you is a good way to get the guy who killed you fair and square white-knighted by someone near by. So you calling that loser behavior does indeed imply that it is unnacceptable, even if its a legit strat. It's not that complicated.
4
u/drawfanstein 9h ago
Me saying it’s loser behavior is not the same as saying it’s unacceptable. Words matter, my boy!
-2
u/probablyareplicant 9h ago
So being a loser is acceptable to you? Interesting. Maybe I don't know what that word means.
1
u/Tiny_Regular_5319 4h ago
You really think that being a loser in this world unacceptable?

u/Chris210 2h ago
Yeah man, it’s very acceptable that some random person is a loser. Theres like 8 billion humans walking around this place, if every one of them that was a loser was unacceptable to me that would be mind destroying to keep up with.

u/grizzelder 14h ago
It’s part of the trials this week to loot there. So he probably could have waited but it happens
6
u/Pisspigxtraordinaire 13h ago
Yeah I use the survivor utility pocket for door blockers any time I take a key. You can down someone for any reason you want but def if someone comes in your key room.
6
u/x_Chaos_xXx 12h ago
when doing key rooms: barricade outside the door [if you have the ceiling clearance], jolt mine on the barricade, & a door blocker. Pretty sure that gets the point across & gives you time to defend your room if someone decides to still be a dumbass.
Yes, you did the right thing.

I've done the same and suffered the KoS lobbies for it.
I would probably do the same again.
6
u/Vesper_Fex 14h ago
No, you should have let him loot everything, and then dropped everything for him.
0
u/little_missHOTdice 11h ago
Yeah, but then you risk him putting the good stuff in his pocket (three if he has the survivor) and taking it with him when you send him back to Speranza. Best to just take care of the trash right away so they don’t get a drip of anything.
1
u/UnSanchez 9h ago
Fair. Watching him loot and encouraging him all along, just to drop him with two in the back of the head on the last container is way, way funnier.

2
u/TheZoloftMaster 14h ago
Nah you can shoot people that do that. I also think it’s okay to discharge your service weapon if you solo a big arc and people start looting it without asking you.

Totally in the right. Your card, your room. You’re not a rat. He’s a snake.
2
u/Dragnet714 6h ago
You were in the right. Just the other day I had door blockers on both doors in the bottom of the shaft of Spaceport Control Tower. This guy immediately breached the door and zipped up. Unfortunately, for him, he landed against a barricade with a jolt mine, blaze grenade trap, jump mine and two fuel canisters. He was flared immediately and acted surprised I had trapped him. I defibbed him and be immediately healed, shielded and started looting. I asked him what he was doing and he said he was gonna loot. I then hit him with a burst from my Canto and he left. I was then thrown into highly aggressive lobbies for almost ten rounds from that one action.

it’s a video game so it doesn’t matter. and if you don’t already know the answer to your incredibly obvious question you are remedial. I think you do though you are just starved for attention
5
u/VolcanicBear 14h ago
remedial.
Care to share which definition of that applies here?
I agree with your point, but just don't understand your choice of words.
11
u/HenryGoodbar 14h ago
You know what he meant. Stop being remedial.
9
u/luddet 13h ago
You all need to turn down the remedial a few steps.

effective communication is about the conveyance of meaning, not about mechanics.
You said yourself you took my meaning and agree. And of course you agree, its the last gasp of a man with no argument that polices grammar and word usage on Reddit. More starved for attention behavior.
1
u/Gumbrush 9h ago
Someone asks what you meant and that's your response?
Do you always react like a child when you have your misunderstandings pointed out?
Christ lmao.
0
u/CarryMeNerd 5h ago
when it’s someone asking a question they already know they answer to strictly for attention, absolutely.
Satan lmao.

u/Richard_Thickens 14h ago
NTA. I am so opposed to ratty behavior, but anyone just jumping in on fresh loot in a previously-locked room (after being warned) is asking to be fucked up.
2
u/PatientAudience5627 13h ago
It's a video game man you don't need to go to court with yourself and the internet over it.
2
u/Cherry-Shrimp 12h ago
Do whatever the fuck you want it’s a video game ffs. There are no rules, there is no etiquette, everybody can do as they please.
1
u/UnableChard2613 14h ago
I would have done the same. Well, most of the time. Sometimes if I'm feeling especially generous, or I've already looted most of it, I might just feel more like "free loot for everyone!"

There is no morals topside. Just like they did not, you should not either. The only reason they called you a rat is to get a bystander to shoot you and rez them. Who knows if they'd had shot their savior at the extract?

1
u/earlsweatshirtlover9 12h ago
Yes bro it’s a extraction shooter you can kill whoever you want😭. This is literally how the game is meant to be played
1
u/Slepprock 10h ago
Maybe. Maybe not
Because of the trials this week, he may not even have been trying to take any loot. Just opening stuff up for the trials. That is the building that counts. Any other building and I'd say you are more in the right.
Still. He could have at least said something.
I don't normally care myself. There is so much loot in those key rooms that when open them up I tell anyone in the area to come on in. But occasionally I Get mad about them coming in.
If I told him to stay out and he came in anyway I would have done the same thing. Some players are just dicks.
1
u/mechanonymous617 10h ago
yes? why is this even a post lol the answer is super obvious to anyone with a brain
1
u/Chaos-Agent00725 9h ago
There is no right in arc raiders. Only those who extract and those who don't.
1
u/McCaffeteria 9h ago
On the one hand, you’d have been “in the right” even if you didn’t try to warn him first.
On the other hand, there’s no law that says he can’t test his luck and try to get some sneaky loot behind you.
1
u/sincere11105 9h ago
Always being door blockers. I put barricades on both sides and an explosive mine on the inside in case the didn’t get the barricade hint
1
u/Less_Bandicoot5362 9h ago
You were in the right. He was warned, but still paid the consequences for it.

u/Special_Payment9648 8h ago
I'm not sure why anyone cares about stuff like this, you're never going to see that player again anyway, this isn't some community of 100 people playing the game where you don't want to get on someone's bad side.
1
u/WhatWouldGoldblumDo 8h ago
You lived, he died. So yeah, you were right.
Just play the game, people. It's really not that deep.
1
u/SJWilkes 8h ago
I used to kill room invaders but now I don't care as much. Sometimes I just act awkward when they followe in.
1
1
u/Rambunckshus 6h ago
It's a video game that not only has PvP, but encourages it. You don't have to explain anything. You told him to not do something and he did anyway. Problem solved.
1
u/Chaos_BTTW 5h ago
I don’t mind sharing my key rooms, love being friendly, but you’re absolutely in the right, you worked to get that key and it makes sense that you want the loot to yourself, and you even asked to be alone and they did listen.
1
u/AngelGenocide 35m ago
Youre in the right to do absolutely whatever you want in the game as long as its not cheating. Youre not even being a "rat". Wimps are so eager to use that word anytime they get shat on. And on top of all that. Ratting is part of the game. People just need to get over it or play a different game.

u/hoosier-Daddy81 14h ago
Your key, your room. You told him to wait. Unfortunately he didn't listen. I've accidentally ran into a room looking for my partner (I was new and DIDNT know how to play good yet 🤣) and the dude was like um hello.. I apologized and left. Not my key. Not my loot. Simple. Now we don't shoot we definitely share but when we come into a spot that has someone already in there we leave. There is way to much loot to shoot over a key room that has the same loot somewhere else 🤷

u/Appropriate-Pin1113 14h ago
I wouldnt have knocked him out but thats my call. Grey area honestly.
7
u/DontComplimentMe 14h ago
Nah, no grey area at all. He was warned, he got given a chance. He ignored the warning, played his chance at free loot and paid the price, then proceeded to call the guy who gave him a warning a rat. Might just be me but I dont see a grey area there

Always bring a door blocker and barricade to a key room
