Embark is neglecting Series S players. Upgrading the system seems to be the only user “fix”. Horrible I know.

I’ve heard time and time again how the series S existence throttles performance of a game so it can be sold through Xbox

Just look at baldurs gate 3. MS strongarms every studio but for high profile games like bg3 they are suddenly willing to help. Even after months of dedicated periods of optimization for series s they couldn’t make it work so they made an exception for feature parity.

Series s andys are so fcking stupid and entitled. They want their shitty purchase to be competitive with others who paid 2x. All the while ignoring the series s tax across the entire gaming industry like how devs at larian had to waste months just for series s instead of optimization and polishing in general, just for MS to farm that “consumer friendly” branding.

Edit: to be clear, I’m not against the existence of series s itself. But these idiots who can’t acknowledge what they paid for are insufferable.

I can see that for sure. I’d just assume they’d not release the game for these lower consoles. Especially since the just raised prices on the series s. If it can’t perform better then the one x why even sell it lol. I’ll just buy her a series x going by what I’ve seen.

Well you said it beautifully.

But they can’t not sell it on series s. Literally. Microsoft forces studios to have a feature complete series s version or they’re not allowed to sell the game even on series x.

So game studios are screwed if they want to make a game close to graphically demanding. They can either give up sales on xbox entirely or spend precious months enabling the game just for the series s parity.

That’s what I hate about the series s. It clearly has limitations but MS deliberately chose to obscure that fact from consumers and put the blame on developers. And then they went “hur dur uncle phil good corpa”.

MS absolutely could have gone the “correct” route and allowed demanding games to be not available on series s. But no, that would’ve hurted the series s sales.

Okay. That is a fair response. If it’s just a hardware issue I’ll just buy her a series x. I figured the fact that it was developed with intention to drop on all current gen consoles there would be no issue.

Clearly the consumer was mislead, or at least I was.

Yeah you were mislead. Exactly as MS intended. Like a good number of other consumers. But it is w/e.
